Anyone ever tried it or does anyone have any input into this?
Would an I.T.B setup work on a turbo 16V engine?Would you get much or of a gain?

I asked this question a while ago. The conclusions where: - it would be expensive. TBs, inlet, plenum etc.. - you would see 'some' gains, unsure exactly what though. - I doubt there are any off the shelf fitments so custom work needed - Larger single TB would work better (look at big skylines etc) - its gonna be hard to balance each TB And last but not least - it would look really cool.............

Did you see mine you could do something similar http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v74/sediciRich/IMG_1616.jpg , just need to get an air box made which can take the pressure, actually that would be the only difference - the air box. Use Guy Croft DCOE manifold to DCOE fit throttles, sort out the air box with a few take offs for MAPm dump valve, waste gate supply. Or use DCOE manifold, add injector bosses- weld on air box back plate to manifold (cut out for ports of course) add/weld trumpets, then finish off air box and clamp together with big old single plate on the side. Simple. Back plate sort of like this http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl...%3Doff%26sa%3DNthis is the 8 injector box that clamps onto that back plate above (but not with those throttles which could be head side of the back plate) http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl...%3Doff%26sa%3DNthis guy here has the same approach I said dcoe manifold to 2 part air box and single throtte with trumpets http://www.vauxhallsportforum.com/phpBB2/400bhp-cav-4x4-turns-to-rwd-t127.htmlrich Rich

Very interesting reading and viewing there Sedici. I spoke to my engine builder this morning aboit I.T.B setup on my 147 turbo engine build, but he rekons the best and easiest solution is a bigger alloy plenum chamber with either a 60mm or 65mm throttlebody on it. ITB setup runs well on a N/A engine build.but.............. That in order to get ITB,s to work and run smoothly on a turbo engine is alot of hassle and messing for not that much gain, when compared to a bigger/less restrictive alloy plenum chamber and throttlebody setup. Just wondering if anyone had done it woth a Coupe 16v turbo,so thats why I posted the thread.

sure no problem, I think that vauxhall thread is good to see a custom made manifold using not too much aside from cutting welding and a starting point. If nothing else it looks nice.

ITB's are a bit pointless on a turbo, I mean, think about all the good reasons for using them on an n/a application then try to apply the same reasons to a turbo and you will see they conflict.
There is one good reason I can think of whereby spraying an outboard injector onto the throttle plate helps mixture homeogenity.
One integrale tuner I know uses ITB's, not convinced its worthwile myself.

Good point about barrels and slides, more than likely no benefit there.

No need, no gain, no point :-)
Just something else to go wrong and having a variable influence on air flow and all that involves into the engine seems to my mind to be daft. Looks smart though eh!

put that money into a bigger turbo, everything else is going to net you not alot, and you will just be fiddling at the end of the day i think just my thoughts

There is a factory set that exists for this. Dellorto made injector throttle bodies for a while after the end of the carb era and I had a set. Not sure what car they were on if any but they had stamped on them RA3 or RA4 I think and they had Fiat group pattern cylinder head ports rather than your normal DRLA/IDF style pattern, also with the injector slot as per the inlet. I tried them on an Alfa 155 of a mate of mine probably 15 years ago. They had a TPS sensor on one.
They were also available on the very late Alfa Boxer-style engines that were also Fuel injected (I guess Alfa 146?) also made by Dellorto but I think the inlet diameter was smaller - I also had a set of them, which I acquired at the same time and I recently ebayed.
