Great running on the track, you have a beautiful car there my friend.
Yes I was already to pace you lot and show you my new genuine old stock Abarth twin pipe exhaust if you could keep!!!!
They said they had found a pace car so my chance of glory was scuppered.
How come we only had 3 laps, bit disappointed with that.

My car did go better that expected considering this weeks engine built.

Well done to all that attended, great day.

A fiat 500 broke down on the main straight and took a while for the recovery truck to clear it away, I guess that limited our run.

124 coupe your 124 was gorgeous!

Thanks Gunzi, we did have to wait a really long time, that explains it.

Never buy a Fiat, they always break down. nono

Thanks for the compliment thumb

Did anybody purchase the Event Photographers pictures? I bought one and thought it was much better than the company that used to do it. They are online now if anybody wants to purchase any after the event

Some nice photos there guys.
It was another great brooklands event although I was a little disappointed with the hill climb this year (the coupes put on a good show though!). Thankfully there were some American engined cars that provided some wheel spinning, tyre shedding entertainment!

The burgundy red one. Only got it 4 weeks ago and in reality it needs a bit of work so not quite as spotless as yours looked. Its like going back in time compared to the coupe, but I'm loving every minute of it.

Ah, the ex US CS1 124 Spider, very nice.
I take it the US bumpers were replaced before you purchased.
Has it still got the anti-smog bits on it?
As you say different mind set is needed to drive, just great fun with less than 100bhp

Don't suppose you took video or stills of my laps/hill starts?

Got it in one. Thankfully all of the anti-smog stuff has gone. Got it from DTR and they told me its the euro-spec engine. Certainly no cat so I'm loving the sound. I need to do a few tasteful mods. The indicators don't look quite right and the red OMP racing harness seat belts look OTT so will have to go.

Sorry but I didn't get to take any decent pics of the test hill. I couldn't even get near it as the crowds were more than ever this year and I left it too late to get a decent view. I had to make do with watching from the Abarth stand. Which wasn't all bad.

I did both the track and the hill this time, first time for either but prefer to have more time looking around than signing in or going to the driver briefings or queueing. I was having a good look at your bumpers cyborg, I've been toying with the idea of getting a new set of chrome or stainless steel pre-74 bumpers to put on my SpiderEuropa, think I prefer them to the Abarth bumper-ettes. I was also thinking of getting a set of early sidelight/indicator lenses and putting some kind of LED panels underneath to avoid cutting large holes under the headlights, there are some other brackets to mount the indicators under the bumpers I think. It's been off the road for 6+ years, not much more to do now...

It'll be great to get it back on the road after that time. SpiderEuropa's are love and so rare that you must. Love to see it once its done.

Yes I remember it in DTR.
Totally agree about the front indicators, so wrong!
Try to find a set of oe lamps and cut holes to suit.
So if it's euro spec engine then probably a CC coupe engine has been fitted so 118bhp.
What number is on the block above the oil filter?

Again totally agree with you Dave, this was my 2nd year of track and hill. You have precious little time to have a gander, not complaining though.

What ever you do Dave, do not put LEDs' on your spider.

I also have 2 other spiders, a CS1 1800 and a BS1 1608. Wonderful beasts thumb

Had a look near the oil filter but couldn't see any numbers so probably need it outside or on a ramp. The only other plate I've found say cs1 and 1976. I'm tempted to replace the indicators with some smallish driving lights and stick the indicators under the bumper for now or maybe swap the for some rectangular chrome ones again under the bumpers. Completely agree that the cut in OE ones would look best, but after seeing the price they'll have to wait for another day. Buying this has cleared me out for now.

I've seen other cars (only photos) where driving lights in the grill have been done quite effectively. Just need to find some not too small, but small enough not to foul the bonnet. Only ones I've seen are motorbike ones (street fighter dominator single lamps at 75mm diameter). 100mm plus seem that they would get in the way of opening the bonnet.

Engine numbers are on a machined flat above the oil filter housing and to left of dip stick.

I would think you would be short of funds, wasn't the car around £9000?

I'll have a look at the engine no. at the weekend when it's safe to get it out of the garage when in finally stops raining.
It was up for £14.5 originally but I didn't pay that. I knew DTR would be dealer prices but I wasn't prepared to take a risk so stuck with DTR in the end as I'd seen some real sheds out there.

There's a couple of spiders on their website at the moment - one for £17k and one for £15k. Another (also at 17k) I saw sold only last week so they seem to be shifting them.

There's definitely a market for them because they do increase in value and fun to drive.
I could not quite remember the price.
