132 means derived from the engines in the Fiat 132, A1 means 1756cc and 040.6 means one of several US versions (Euro versions are 000). The bottom number is the engine number. There's hardly any emission control stuff on there, my first 124 Spider from 1974 had an exhaust cam driven air pump with injection points next to the spark plugs and all sorts of extra pipes and connections on the carburettor.
That air filter you have is missing a pipe that brings hot air up from above exhaust manifold in winter with a fixed flap under the top of the air filter "lid" that you move to one of two positions

Yes, I agree with DaveG, it appears to be a US engine.
I see you still have the anti-smog relays and wiring. I removed mine and rewired to make it neater.

Did you mean a Haynes manual? The hardback one with a light green cover and a (BC, IIRC) Coupe on the front? When you say it "isn't all that good" do you mean the quality of the reprint is poor, or the content is poor? I thought (content wise) it was pretty good, produced in the days when they used a lot of manufacturer drawings. Obviously it relates mostly to the Coupe but it does acknowledge the Spider and does have some Spider-specific wiring diagrams - it may not have your exact wiring schematic but you should find something good enough, plus over the years you may find that some modifications have been done. I have one pristine version in a cupboard and another rather messy version in the garage.
There's a spare parts manual produced in the US that shows those relays and other associated anti-smog gubbins which I can scan to PDF and email if you want, but unless it's interfering with the running of the engine, I would say leave it all there, I would assume that DTR removed all the unnecessary stuff already.

Half are and half are not. Send me your email and I'll try to sort out a wiring diagram for you. Tell me what is on the plate inside the drivers door jam, model year wise

Chris, Have you had a look on the Fiat Forum website? http://www.fiatforum.com/I ask as I was able to download a workshop manual for the X 1/9 there a couple of days ago.
