I've been driving past a house with a car under a cover for the last year. Cars in the middle of nowhere doesn't seem to move but always put money on it's a coupe.

Hey ho, wind blew it off the other day as I went by and coupe it was. Exhaust had seen better days and I could tell this hasn't moved for a year or so and possible shot motor.
Me being me, temptation has got the better of me and I drove down to take a closer look and it was a Plus, Bonus! I did knock at the door but no one was there and has taken me a week to decide weather to go back. Popped back today in the LE and soon as I pulled up the chap came straight out.

Really nice guy, got chatting and asked if it was something he would consider selling and he said yes. He also said he's got another round the back damaged. Popped round and it was his original silver 20vt which he crashed and the Plus was the replacement. Work commitments and funds have not been available to keep her on the road which is sad as he obviously likes the cars.

To my surprise he says the Plus is fine and runs ok so I've agreed to buy them both and reassure him the Plus wont be scrapped and will be recommission and put on the road. It's a real shame that cars like Coupes are given up on so easy, I find them easy enough to work on, cheap on parts, really reliable and cheap motoring.

The down side to this is finding time to keep all my others ticking over and my have a little sort out in the year. I've bought seven coupes in six months including another two Plus's and an LE and not including my original one, I may need to consider having counselling LOL. My neighbours are going to love me

Just got back from seeing the Chap for the second time as I wanted to talk money after starting the car and hearing whats its like. Motors ok, paid the man and collect Monday morning.

The crazy thing is it's only 7 miles from me and never seen it around. The guy said he keeps it running and occasionally runs it round the block so not all bad.
Cars done well over 100,000 miles but the drivers seat has no wear at all which is unusual, in fact cleaned up the interiors going to come up mint. My other Plus has done 60,000 ish and the seats are not as good as this one.

With regard to the other coupe that he had I've just agreed to strip it there of everything that will unbolt and fill the van and he's going to get shot of the shell which will help and the bits will come in handy or sell on.

Didn't take any pic's as was a flying visit just to do the deal and pay the man

Collected the poor old Coupe this morning which went as well as expected.

Was warned the gear change was a little stiff suspected seized cable? forward and back was ok but side to side a trial. Car was down a cylinder but came back to life on route home so motors fine. Did a few simple tests soon as I was back and injector will be required so if any one has one to sell please pm me.

Have taken a few pictures exactly as i've collected it as it's stood for a year. The chap has owned it for a year but never used it ??? personally i think the injector fault reared its head and the local garaged frightened him off with a potential £800 which was what he was quoted to keep it on the road hence why it's never moved. I mean why would you buy a replacement Coupe and not use it?

Apart from that I've had a few surprises with the car. One previous owner and in the glove box all the original bits and pieces including a full service history, radio, remote, alarm and card code details etc " didn't expect that"

Simple Issues with the car are, gear change needs easing, back box and injector, apart from that I think its been looked after, just needs cleaning up.

What's the thing sitting on top of the washer bottle? I assume only the 16v cars have it, cos mine just has the 4 empty knurled bolts.

To be honest a few years ago tried to sell my 16vt Plus which is mint under the dust without a mark on it, from memory i struggled to get any interest at around £2500. So in the end I just decided to keep untill they go up in value and desirability which they have.

I just love them...... the lay person doesnt Have a clue how good they are in comparison to a lot of other so call high performance cars and i spend ALL my spare time locating coupes and other classic cars for the right money. It's what ive always done and in the past had some very good cars but circumstances change and they all went one by one so trying to build a collection while they are still affordable . In 5 years or so good clean cars will be so sort after.

Some collection there! Must be nice to have the money and space to keep all of those. I'm sure they will be worth a small fortune in the years to come if they are all restored to perfection.

Nows the time to buy...
