I've come to the decision that it's no longer worth me keeping the coupe in storage, it's a shame for the old girl to be say there unloved. My plan to be here for 3 years has changed somewhat and I think I'll be here for a few years to come.

The coupe is relatively clean and the mileage is pretty low, it was mechanically sound 3 years ago when it went into storage but it will now need the timing and auxiliary belts changing along with a good service on the brakes, etc.
there is a small ding in the bonnet and the bumper that I would like to get repaired to make the body work A1.

Now here's the question, do I sell it as is or do the work before the sale in the hope it will return a better sale price?

Omg has it really been the years since you went to Dubai!
I think you should keep it Jim.

It's coming up to 3 years in Oct Bockers, gone scarily quickly hasn't it.

My situation has changed so much in that time that it just doesn't make sense to keep paying for storage.
I'm getting married to a Swedish Iraqi girl I met over here, my future will possibly take me to Sweden and not back to the UK so I'd rather someone enjoyed the coupe instead of it just collecting dust.

My decision is made to sell, it's just now down to fixing it up or selling as it is.

Given the new car thread, I'd suggest it's not going to be worth your time fixing it up. If you pay someone 3-400 quid to do the belts I doubt it'd add that money back.

Shame to have to sell this one but if you are going to be living in Sweeden you'll be needing a LHD one anyway wink

Test the water with a detailed advert, you may hook someone looking to have themselves a keeper and prepared to do the work. It could though just be snapped up and then wrecked. It would be a real shame to see your car go the way of so many other notable Coupés. Destroyed and then broken for bits frown

But then that's not really going to bother you, is it? It all depends if you are selling with your head or your heart Jim.

I'd hate to see it destroyed, I'd rather give it to someone who would look after it than see her stripped for parts, it's a nice clean good example of an LE, not an eBay dog.
I think I'll do that Bob, I'll just make it open to offers and see where it goes.

I'm back in June to sell the house and collect all the documents etc so I guess I can post them down to Joe who could give it a check over before it gets sold.
I'll PM him now.

I'll take it for free!

Well if it owes you nothing and you're not desperate to sell you can choose the right owner for the car and ensure its not thrashed and killed.

If you do it up it /could/will cost you £1000-£2000 and Duffys awesome coop only made £5000 odd the second time around and it is as good as a coop gets.

As much as I hate to say it, I think it would be best for you to sell it Jim frown

You're planning at the moment and that involves the best for the Coupe, which is better than saying you'll keep it and then suddenly need to get rid and then it goes to someone who doesn't care.

I would sell it as it is as I don't think you'll get much more back by getting the work done to it.

Will be a shame to see you getting rid of your Coupe, but you had different plans when you first put it into storage and now you've moved on.

I wondered how long it would take the Coupe magnate to offer up his protective custody!

I can imagine you'll have quite a lot of interest in this Jimbo. Possibly from myself too.

Good luck with the sale.

Right here

Thanks for all your opinions guys, I'm not looking for offers at the moment, it was more a "what should I do" thread so thanks to all those showing interest by PM but until I come home and collect the V5 etc, I'm not even in a position to advertise.
