Hotel near Luino cost all about 100euros for night (two person plus breakfast) frown

If you can spent so much euros, there are different opportunities, otherwise I can suggest you 2 hotels in Luino where you can sleep with 80euros.

Check this route -> http://goo.gl/maps/uCeMp (I've mentioned also Vicolungo for meet up with Barnacle)

You will pass through Bellinzona, city of 3 castles
http://www.bellinzonaturismo.ch/en.aspx

Or you can visit Ascona -> http://www.ascona-locarno.com/en/

Or pass through Luino, and go over Laveno http://www.varesefunicolari.org/varese/sferro.html

Or visit Isole Borromee -> http://www.isoleborromee.it/en/home

These are only suggestion, also Como is beautiful, and near swiss highway, but I don't know Como Lake as well as Maggiore Lake.

I sent you a PM with my mobile phone number

PS: Barnacle, go visit Bergamo Alta! And try "casoncelli"

Toby have you got a 22mm open ended spanner you can bring, adjustable would do?

I don't think security will be very happy with me taking a lambda spanner in the hand luggage when we fly Thursday chinny

Yes, I've packed an adjustable (24mm max) so it isn't just a "one trick pony." It's all about maximising use-per-weight you know. wink laugh

Cambridge to Folkston = Rain frown
Calais to Luxembourg = Rain frown

First re-fuel in Luxembourg ((Much cheaper than France and Belgium at 1.38 for Shell 98). We managed 388 miles on that tank and the light had just come on, a bit short of the 450 I've had before = My Fault rolleyes

After Luxembourg we headed south past Nancy to the N66 for Mulhouse. Mulhouse is uninspiring so headed south to find somewhere to stay. Made a small error in arriving at the Basel Motorway border and having to buy a vignette there (€40 but oddly we received €10 + some Swiss Francs in change). Most hotels around here were either full, or blooming expensive €120+ shocked

We managed to find a quirky place back in France. Bit odd but clean, unusual and a HUGE four poster bed, we'll gloss over the 1970's bathroom though hehe But not bad for €70 including breakfast smile

As for pictures. I can't seem to get them on a service that works with FCCUK at the moment so, for those who have me added, I'll stick them on facebook.

So today, still working on the Mrs to visit the Museum in Mulhouse, I can tell she's not too keen frown

Then somewhere to stay in Switzerland... I guess that won't be cheap..

I confirm, Switzerland is quite expensive..
Can't you come directly to Italy from Molhouse?
There are 3hours and a half to come into Italy http://goo.gl/maps/KneDa
Italian hotels are cheaper then swiss hotels http://www.albergostampa.com/tariffe.html

I'm using photobucket for pictures; FCCUK likes that.

Only the odd spatter of rain to date, so we'll have a look at Lake Garda today...

Joe, if you can't sort a spanner I can do it when we get back.

What size is the required spanner, 22mm? Is the lambda the same as a 20vt? (I have a spare)

According to the hotel I am staying in on Monday night, the Stelvio pass is open? crazy

Neil I've purchased a nice new NGK Lambda so we'll change it as you've still quite a few miles to drive.

Dave yes the Lambda size is the same as the 20vt's so any 22mm open ended would do the job, it's a fairly new Lambda in a new cat so it shouldn't give me/Jake any trouble, well I've said it now.............. I best bring the burning gear laugh

Take care if it is...........my reoccuring memory of it was several hairpins with recently replaced accident-damaged armco! shocked

Hotel is stunning, cracking view of mountains and a roof top terrace to sit on and see them. It's just a few weeks old and is a huge contrast to yesterdays, but it's almost twice the price!

We visited Mulhouse this morning then made our way through France, past Belfort to pick up the D437 to Pontarlier (There was a fantastic bit of road about ten miles before that got a spanking). Then simply down to Lausanne.

Anyone doing the Stelvio I reccomend the lakeside drive around Garda as well. Once south of Lake Garda the E64 takes you West north of Milan and right past the Monza circuit if theres anything on (though worth it just to stand on the evocative banking! Then on to Torino.

The word from the Giro d'Italia is that there was complete chaos yesterday when it went over and several accidents/incidents in snow and ice.

Joe, I think we will need to fit it - the car has taken to stalling on the down-shift or at road junctions/roundabouts: the ICV is operating and it usually maintains the revs, but I wonder if the dead lambda has upset the map adjustment. It's really not that happy plodding along at slow speeds - though an Italian tune up works fine!

Gimmo, what time do we meet at the Vicolunga outlet?

We will meet up with Ettore in Vicolungo at 10:15 AM, is ok for you?
Where do you start? Highway around Milano will be full of traffic, take care of this and consider half an hour of traffic frown

So, if someone want to have a coffe before coming into Torino, we will meet in Vicolungo Outlet at Biandrate Exit.

For the other, see you in

- Ristorante Pappagallo
- Strada Nazionale 83
- Cambiano 10020 Torino

At 12 o'clock! Lunch will start at 12:30

Boosted, I will contact you via sms if you want to stay near Lake Maggiore.
I have found lots of Bed and Breakfast for 40euros each night

Gripped, you can choice everything but will become more expensive. If you want to spent only 20euros each one, you must choice between the first plate of menu 1 or 3, and take roast and bounet.
Menus -> http://www.fiatcoupeclub.org/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1490517#Post1490517
Sorry, but I can't do much more. I hope you appreciated my idea

Thanks for the offer Gimmo but I managed to find a decent looking hotel near Maggiore and just booked it for tomorrow. Should be fun driving there via the saint gotthard pass! Today we had a little test run on the Furka pass which was fabulous!
