I have a problem with bent alloys since I bought my Coop, last year.
I had bought it with original 15 wheels, which I think are kind of boring.
Then I moved to the Toora Canonica 17, which were very soft, and were a total loss.(bent 2 times in 3 months).
And now I have Alessio 18" 5 spoke which the seller said that they were very strong.(pardon my English)
Well, after 7000km all 4 alloys are bent and they need to be straightend.
So I will probably get rid of the ALessios.... crazy

I want 18" on my Coop because I think it suits it best, but I don't want fixing alloys every 3 months grr
So what do you think I should do...??

I have some options:
-buy very strong Fondmetal Performance UL(8.7kg)alu+mag alloys 18" for 760€ - BIG INVESTMENT
-second hand market - which company?
TeamDynamics, BBS, OZ?
-buy something new but not as expensive as Fondmetal

I'm interested in region of 500€, but I don't want some crappy alloys that will bent in next 5000km....

What do you suggest?

I have an option of buying these TD Diablo's for 320€.
They whey about 10.2kg which are not very heavy, and the price is OK, but I dont think they don't look good on Coop....

Nice looking Coupe; not seen a double door speaker mod like that before shocked

Alloys look good and price is attractive I'd say.

Having said that, I have not heard of alloys going soft so I am not sure what the issue is frown

You know when you hit a pothole on the road at relative high speed and you bend your alloy?Maybe repeatedly...
Well roads herr aren't smooth, except highways, so after a while the alloy deforms becuase of the bumps....
And the result is that the car and the steering wheel are vibrating at 90MPH and above.
My friend has OZ WRC, which are almost impossible to bend, but the price 225€/per alloy says it all...

18inch and very low profile tyres are the problem. The coupe suspension was not built to accommodate these specs so the wheels will suffer.

I think the wheels look good and are reasonable money as well.
Can you go for a bigger profile on the tyres? Say a 40 instead of 35?

have you considered a softer suspension setup to help absorb the rough of the road... my just help you alloys last longer.

or would i be wrong thinking this ?

I currently have Apex springs because stock were too high and too soft in the corners.
I wanted a stiff car so that it doesnt bounces around...but if I go with Eibachs, it will cost me extra 400€……… crazy

It's a shame because the car looks just right on 18", but I never thought I would ha ve some much problems with them...

Any other suggestions?
Should replace with 17?

I run 17" on Eibach and Bilstein combo. It's just right for me, a firm edge with a sporty look and lowered about 30-35mm from standard. I've also just cut my front shock bump stops down a single ring. It seems better with a bit more shock travel smile

Well after a little research, I found out that the TD Diablo alloys were bent a few times, due to the softness of the ring... grr

I've came to the conclusion that I would probably have to buy ALU+MAG alloys, I keep them if I ever buy 20VT.., but still have to find the right ones.
The problem with the Fondmetal ones is that the spokes are sticking out of the rims which is pretty bad if you park near a sidewalk crazy

So I'm looking for suggesting for Ultralight Alu-Mag alloys.
I saw that postage is about 50-100€ from UK, but then again I can't find any suitable alloys here is Slovenia...
I really want 18 because they just look the business cool

AEZ are a decent brand from Germany iirc.
Had a couple of sets on various Beemers in the past.

You need to photoshop the wheels onto your car and see what they look like.

Just my opinion but that takes me back to the late 90's and the days of big wheels on corsas - monster truck.

Mrzly_slo, did you photoshop this in?
nice mate, need to learn how to do that myself. trying to find a good alloy's for my coupe but can't seem to always visualise how it would look. this would help a lot.
