If your talking about mig ringing the block you can't do it as the headgasket is multilayered the fire ring is in the middle. You won't need to do this anyway as the standard gasket is very strong an can easily take over 3bar of boost without blowing.

Just curious to how you know the gasket can take 3 bar of boost?

Well if you cast your mind back to when we had the discussion about lowing the compression ratio to run more boost you advised me against this option as you said Barbz had run 3bar and blew the induction pipes off but the engine took it. So the answer to your question is: You told me

I said 2 bar not 3, and that was only once or twice. My standard 16vt gasket could take 2 bar if required, but it would eventually break (as it stands it tends to break around 1.6 - 1.7bar)

I think we got or wires crossed then. As when i talk about engine pressure i mean in absolutoe pressure. When i talk about turbo boost i use gauge pressure.

So which pressure are you talking about here? But i think you will find 99.5% of people on here talk about turbo pressure and not absolute pressure

I blame my Science and Maths teacher i didn't know there was a difference until he makes me work everything out in absolute so i'm just used to it. Engine gasket is 3bar so really i mean 2bar sorry for the confusion.
