Highs:

Buying my very early 20vt ex-Fiat press fleet car in Feb '97 at auction, and driving it back home

Driving the Coupe around Goodwood and Castle Combe

Writing a Coupe article for Used Car Buyer magazine (and AutoItalia)

Marvelling at how effortless the Coupe is to drive

My first trip to Venice in the Coupe and driving on empty Autobahns wink

Fitting virtually all the modifications and upgrades myself, a gradual journey to get to the spec I have now

Turin trip 2014, meeting old and new friends, visiting Lingotto and meeting Chris Bangle, visiting Fiat Centro Storico and Mirafiori, the police escorts through Turin, then driving the Stelvio Pass and Nurburging on the way back

Having a nice collection of Coupe memorabilia

This forum and fccuk!

Lows

Removing sump to replace stripped thread on sump plug, then having to remove it again when a big end worked loose after changing bearings whilst I was at it

Letting something as simple as a seized alternator and shredded aux belt keep the Coupe off the road for 2 years

Being hit in the rear (twice) and side by other numpty drivers

The PTS/Unichip group buy

Fitting cheap-ish coilovers

Being among the first to encounter and having to figure out and solve problems that are now commonplace (thermostat, cam/phase sensor, corrupted CODE box)

Nice relaxing drive from Teignmouth to Yeovil with Mrs Pigman today, in my yellow Plus, letting almost everything pass me. Went on to Wincanton to see her Dad and then the journey home.....

Joined A303 behind a black Porsche Cayman S and stayed behind it. Was having fun on those three lane sections of the A303, where two lanes go in one direction for a while. Was nearing rush hour and ambient speed on the A303 was 40-50 mph, so I made sure I was dropping to second just before the road goes from single to two lanes and floored it behind the Porsche.

When he realized what was happening he started to do the same and the sound of his flat six with four large exhausts, over the sound of my own, told me that he was trying. This set the pattern for the next 40 miles, though no silly driving as we both valued our licenses.

My Coupé is standard spec and I had no trouble at all in matching or even exceeding his acceleration from 40-70 mph. Had a big grin on my face, which Mrs Pigman soon slapped away!

Any speeds beyond this were down to speedo error and no racing took place. Stayed with him until he carried on up the A38 to Plymouth and I took the A380 fork towards Torquay. Was just surprised how well the Coupé equitted itself.

Have had enough highs to ignore the lows.

Dangerously close to a 'racing' post which would of course be forbidden on the forum.

So long as it's only dangerously close. wink

Just spirited acceleration as the opportunities arose and comparisons thereof. No racing, like I said.

Which is why I left it in. Just warning others who might be tempted to post... it's a while since we've seen racing posts and some of the new guys might be unaware of the prohibition.
