after a bad weekend trying to replace all 4 bald tires with some cheap mot replacements i have fitted link cheap as chips .... they dont seem to bad ...... not tried them in the wet ..... wont take long i live in Manchester i have not abused them yet but in the dry they are quite good .... i have had TR1's on my coupe for the last 4 years .... but budget constraints and short drive to work has changed my driving ... i dont know if other coupe divers have tried them ... but so far so good

The Infinity came in at 46th place and took a terrifying 62.9 metres to stop - very nearly 50% more than the best tyre

I was looking around at tires, currently have falcon ones fitted that cost £110 per corner fitted, these work ok for me. But i was looking at fitting the toyo R888 road legal slick's on the next time i require tires.

has anybody used these ? are they any good ?

for me, i drive my car as a pleasure thing in good weather, in winter she is covered up and tucked into hibernation ready for the next year.

My Dad had them on his coop when he first bought it years ago and we got rid of them pretty quickly, now has Toyo T1R all round and they are pretty good. Not as good as the Continental sport contact though and on my BM I have Michelin Pilot Super Sport, the best tyre I have ever used, although dont think they come in 16" form.

The chassis is only as good as the tyre beneath.

People underestimate the importance of good tyres.

I have Toyo R1Rs and rate them very highly indeed, I also have a second set of wheels with T1Rs which I use for winter months (You can't use or even store the R1Rs below 2 degrees.

The grip from the R1Rs is amazing.

Hi, I would like to break into this thread to ask some advise for new tires.
I find it very difficult to find tires for my 20VT+ and am considering to fit to 205/50R16 like on my 20V.

n my 20V I had experiance with Toyo T1R, but they are very inferior to the Bridgestone RE050 that I fitted after that.

The RE050 is not available anymore as far as I can see, so it also is not available for 225/45/R16.

At the moment I'm considering the Nokian Zline as it is available in 205/50R16W. Is there any experiance with them on a Coupe?

Maybe I first buy 2 for the 20V and if they are good I fit 4 of them on the 20VT.

Update: I now fitted 2 Nokian Zline tyres on my 20Vis front wheels.
They seem to be very grippy especially on smooth surfaces (like the parking at work). I still have to wait for rain to try them, but they should be very good in rain.

The noise is about the same as with the Bridgestone R050, maybe a tiny bit more.

Steering is more precise, but the white lines on the road are a bit more filtered out compared to the Bridgestones.

I still hope someone else has experiance with them too.


For the 20VT I can choose the same 205/50R16W, but they also have a 225/50R16W. Is the 50% for that tire too much?

I used to fit Goodyear Eagle F1's. They were good but the wear rate was shocking.

I tried Toyo T1R's, after a recommendation on here. Almost as good as the Goodyear, but cheaper and last longer. I've fitted them ever since, indeed I've just ordered two from etyres, who were much better on price than Black circles this time round.

well with the good weather we are having today i have found out how good my cheap tires are ..... drove onto the M60 ... and on the slip-road i thought my clutch was slipping they are that bad in the wet .... going home i go round a well worn roundabout .... cant put any power down because i will go sideways.... so glad i do limited mileage.... need a better paying job

I had four different budget tyres on my Alfa GT when I first got it - I was pleasantly surprised about how decent they were in the dry, but the first time I drove it in the wet I was genuinely scared for my safety - they were replaced with four Falkens a couple of days later.

Agree with Nigel completely - my daily driver is a 1.9 tdi which I do 20-25,000 miles a year in for work, and it gets goodyear F1's so I know I can have proper grip in the wet on the motorway if I need it.

cheap tyre are a waste of money on any car.

Got 2 Toyo's on the front of mine highly recommened them, you can find them quite cheap delivered on eBay as well in 17" and 18" sizes.

I have Nexen N6000 all round, 225/45-16. I never skimp on tyres or brakes and honestly thought these would need replacing asap. But the previous owner said they were suprisingly good - and I agree. The car feels confident and predictable in dry and wet.

Under heavy acceleration when changing lanes it can feel a bit all over the place at times. That might be torque steer or suspension related though, beeing that this car with these tyres are my only frame of reference so far.

Valuetyres has them at £47 each delivered, a complete bargain.
