gtech chip, digital boost controller, decent downpipe 3" or so, maybe some cooling via an FMIC (front mounted intercooler)

Not so sure about that, would think it would be adviseable, but the FMIC would be the important mod. Using an FMIC will enable you to safely cool at slightly higher boost levels, 1.3 etc, which your coop will be capable theoretically if u get the thing chipped etc, along with the turbo you already have. you could leave the FMIC out, but just beware that if u do, you should keep pressure below 1.2 bar etc.

Nitrous, he's only recently changed his turbo. Wouldn't you be better off having this product (which you sell, correct?), that you are constantly trying to promote regardless of the post subject, in the "Parts For Sale" section, and seeing what interest you get ?
In addition, your post gives the impression that you buy this kit, have it fitted and voila ! - 330 bhp. You don't mention any changes required for the intercooling, fuel pump, possibly injectors
What boost is required to acheive this 330 bhp anyway ? 1.6+ bar ? Surely this is outside the 28R's efficiency and it'll be chucking out a lot of heat boosting that high, making the intercooling even more vital ?
Benny - check out the PTS Unichip Group Buy thread in the Rolling Roads section of the forum - almost every combination of mods is on there, with rolling road bhp figures. Bear in mind that its common consensus that you need to spend 2k or so to get a safe 300 bhp out of the Coupe, although you've made a start with the hybrid The advice you've been given above is right - boost controller, front-mount intercooler, straight induction pipe and filter of some sort (Ramair, Apexi, etc), GTEC chip (or Unichip if the GTEC is not fuelling correctly and GrahamL can't supply one that matches your car's setup), possibly a higher-pressure fuel pump, etc. Ask yourself if its worth the outlay

Im woundering what the next best modifcation i should make? My goal is about 300bhp i ASWERED TO HIS QUESTION...its best and cheapest bolt on opinion to get 300 hp. injectors are good up to 335 hp with 3 bar fuel pressure. fuel pump sometimes make problems, then its better to upgade to bigger one...unless it doesn 't make problems you can save the money running with standard one 2K is definetly to much!!

So no changes to the intercooling needed then ? The standard intercooler is fine with this kit ?
And the boost pressure required for the 330 bhp ?

Thats one hell of a wild statement about the standard injectors. i wouldnt want to risk that power on my standard injectors without having them checked out and fuelling checked on the rollers...

you can calculate it also with the formula
80% duty cycle max recomanded (BOSCH injectors) still save
well sometimes they need also a cleening to work properly

300HP need about 1,4 Boost pressure (GT28R) an airflow of 28Lb/min. Ceck flowmaps, do calculation if you need information how to PM me
You can change also the intercooler you can't go wrong changing it too, an temp drop of 10°C gives 3% more Power.
In general a "small" turbo like oem has a higher compressoroutlet temp then a "bigger" one like GT28R so it isnt as critical for 300hp powerlevel. Its possible to run save with oem intercooler proofed maytimes up to now.
well i dont want to make an intercooling theme of this them so i stop now...

Err its not proven. I dont know of any 300+bhp car on here thats been proven safe running the OEM intercooler...
IMO if you uprate anything in the engine bay that is the first thing you should change to a front mount..

And to be honest i dont think a 16vt would last long running such high boost on an oem cooler...

well for the 20vt i still looking for it...
but it don 't makes a diffrence 300hp are 300hp
boost = boost
and 16vt oem intercooler is also as big as 20vt
so now you ve seen a 300bhp coupe with oem intercooler

Well as any tuner worth their salt will say and myself, you run that kind of power and air thru a standard intercooler and your putting your engine at risk.
Yes a bigger turbo will flow more air and less heat but heat will still be there and thats what causes a lot of problems and generally not good for your engine. If you want to be cheap and push that kind of power without doing the correct upgrades then its your own choice, but i certainly wouldnt buy your coop when youve finished with it!

hard words...
i try again to explain.
running 1,4 bar with oem turbo oem intercooler is a high risk for your engine, running an GT28R with oem intercooler is not as critical as oem.
you won't need it for 300HP!! you may upgrade it for best results

You would want to run a higher flowing turbo that while it may push out less heat pushs out more air than standard on a standard cooler which has plastic endcaps?? sorry but even the R5 GTT boys realised this wasnt a good idea before the coop was release!
If you do modding on the cheap without looking into the problems you will create you will only harm your pocket more in the future and if not pass on a coop thats not so good to some poor new owner.

Nitrous, got me confused,
you're running GT28R @ 1.4bar sustained on standard SMIC and standard internals? You haven't replaced the plastic endcaps of the IC? I thought it's leaking air after 1.3bar! Odd...

vas
Standard boost is 0,8 bar and overboost is 1,2 bar on Original 220HP coupe
So why should it leake already after 1,3?
all novi..gtech...chipped coupes would have a leaking ic if it would leak after 1,3 bar like your telling us.

nitrous, that's what I heard (maybe they meant on 1.4 sustained, dunno) mine is normal at the moment, waiting for the cams and turbo to be fitted sometime in (wishing...) September, but I'm not planning of replacing the SMIC for a FM as yet.
cheers

runing any thing more than 1.2 bar on a std intercooler is asking for trouble imo dont see why anyone would want to run that sort of risk on blowing up engine and spending all that money on a turbo and not spending so little on fmic

OK - from the horses mouth..... A GT28R is running very close the the edge of the turbo's efficiency island at 1.4 bar. This assumes the intercooling is adequate. Whilst I don't doubt that a standard sidemount intercooler will handle enough boost to produce 300bhp, I REALLY don't believe it will do it for very long. Just the same as Nyssa's standard rods ran 400+ bhp - but only for a couple of laps before they cried enough and jumped through the block. My GT28R-equipped car ran 305bhp, but needed significantly uprated intercooling (can't remember whether I had my ProAlloy FMIC, or was still on my Pace sidemount, with Pace chargecooler). I also had an uprated fuel pump with direct battery feed, 2.75" downpipe with decat, Ramair filter, Unichip and Blitz boost controller. Benny asked the question: what the next best modification i should make and stated: he DIDN'T ask what single mod would give him 300bhp My honest advice (having seen many owners get to 300bhp) is dependent on whether you want to get to 300bhp in one go, or as the end result of a process of a series of modifications. If all at once, you'll need: Intercooling - FMIC is best. Chip - G-Tec should do it, although a Unichip will make it safer Downpipe - 2.75" is enough, 3" is a bit better. Lose the 2.25" V-Band adapter if you can. Fuel pump (Walbro 255 litre / hour). Decat. Air filter - Ramair, K&N, Apexi Boost controller - MANY choices, £30 - £350 Rolling road map to make sure its all running OK If you're going the "bit at a time" route, then the parts you'll need are still the same, but I would get them in the following order Chip & Boost controller at the same time rolling road run air filter Intercooler rolling road run fuel pump decat downpipe rolling road run there are alway lots of differing opinions on this forum. Everyone is entitled to their own. However, the significant number of owners that have been around the forum for many years have seen the development of the Coupe run from L&M's "monster" chargecooled car (280bhp) to the current crop of 450+bhp animals. In almost every case, the owners have spent extra money on making the car produce the power reliably. Its sooooo easy to chuck on a big turbo and whack up the boost, but the end result is almost inevitable, especially in these warm summer months. The forum regulars want to attract a loyal following for the car and the forum, so we try very hard to give the correct advice on how to tune, not just the path of biggest "bang per buck" Tread carefully, but have fun
