Can't wait for it to be over as it's become rather tiresome now sick to death of the over the top coverage! It's just gone on and on poll after poll "lets keep guessing the results" day after day after day!
Let's just wait for the real results! And if Scotland wants a divorce, sincerely best of luck for your future!! I will still come and visit! biglaugh

I for one will be glad if a no vote is the result. Alex Salmond has worn me down and my last nerve is fit to blow.

Hello everybody, just to say that over here it is not doing the front pages, maybe tomorrow?
As an external eye i would like to give my point of view.If i was able to vote i would vote"oui".It is not sure at all that Scotland will go down leaving the union.Scotland has got oïl and few electrical nuclear plants. If the "yes" wins it will be a bit of an event in the european union(unless the Scots decide to enter in the E.U like France).
It reminds me of the last referendum that took place over here few years ago, concerning some european treaties, when the french people voted "non" to it,and that the french parliament voted "yes" to ignoring people'vote.
As aconclusion go for free...dom.
PS:excuse my french.

With only hours to go I am now beginning to feel really apprehensive. It could swing either way although we're being told it's slightly in favour of No. The don't know's hold the key and it could still hinge on only one vote.

It's such a huge catalyst whatever the outcome, either a break with so much tradition or a backlash from aggrieved Wales or N Ireland, and some enraged Tory backbenchers to boot that might contribute to their party's weakening at the next election.

I thought Gordon Brown was much more inspiring at this rally tonight than his patronising and repetitive haranguing at David Dimbleby in their interview. In the latter Salmond came over incredibly as it may seem as more trustworthy, but today in his last rally he looked exhausted and barely found the energy to speak above mezzo-forte.

It's really difficult to imagine the further ramifications of this whole episode but it's reassuring that in one of my workplaces (round the coffee table) each person's decision will be respected and no hard feelings.

That's our democracy at its best, and to me whatever the result people are still people and friends still friends wherever they are.

I still think it'll be a "no" and probably by a greater margin than the polls have been showing lately.

It's very "Yes" heavy around these parts. Complete with constant shameless bullying of open "No" voters. frown

Hopefully the oil reserves will be almost exhausted by the time they try this again in 20-30 years. That would kill the "yes" argument stone dead.

My favourite quote from social media today;

"Good luck today, Scotland. If you're still undecided on how to vote just remember what the USA does to small, poorly defended countries with lots of oil."

Incredible turn out, whatever the result it's reflects very well on the scots for all getting off their arses to have a say in the outcome.

Second that, it is a fantastic turn out, especially for Inverclyde, there must have been one vote in that result!

I'm expecting the big cities to swing towards the Yes votes though.

It's nice being 3hrs ahead here, I'm up having a coffee watching the results come in

Phew - I've been following it since about 2am - exciting stuff. Looks done and dusted now and my vote isn't even in the results yet.

It has been exciting but it looks like it was almost a whitewash or a red white and blue wash.

So what happens next, will this have a lasting effect on the nation or will people just carry on as usual and put this behind them?

There's obviously going to be changes. I think there's a big fuss about Glasgow result which, when contrasted with Aberdeen, looks pretty close. I'm relieved for sure.

Now we will see if DC is brave enough to go back on his promise of more power to the Scottish officials.

Great turn out, why can't we get this at a general election? Does our heritage and a sense of pride / belonging need to be questioned constantly for 2 years first?

Looks like we're stuck with you, then...

We don't get this at a general election because people don't see it as important, perhaps?

God, I hope Sturgeon goes. Honestly, though, the SNP were nothing in the years when Salmond wasn't leader

The noes have it, but that still leaves almost 50% of the population of Scotland who will now feel hugely disappointed (as would a win for the Yes side). That's Democracy, but Cameron and future UK governments would do well to bear that in mind rather than ride roughshod over them. The same goes for much of the non-London country.
Fantastic turnout, a lesson for all of us.

Levity aside, Cameron must be so relieved. Imagine going down in history as the PM who lost Scotland.
