Having just purchased a new coupe I do have a question in regards to collecting it....
It has no tax or test but according to the dvla website I can drive it as long as I'm going to a place of repair......is this as simple as it sounds
It will be insured of course, just enquiring if anyone has done this or knows a way around it?
Adam
And it will be going straight to my mechanics

If it has no MOT then it can't be insured. Tricky... May the Force be with you. Or not as it were...

Or go the back way home, less chance of being spotted !! Avoid all major routes , then if you sorn it you won't need insurance til u get an mot for it. Not that I've ever done this before

It is my understanding that you can (and must) get insurance to drive to the MOT. You must pre-book the MOT and drive to it. Then of course you can tax it.
I suspect insurance policies allow for this particular event - so you would be covered, so long as you are attending a pre-booked MOT appointment.
As well as the above, the car MUST be in a roadworthy condition ie. capable of passing the test. Your insurance will be void if you drive an unroadworthy to the MOT station.

But as you can't know it will fail until you get there... And plenty of people drive home after an MOT fail knowing full well that the car is not roadworthy.

It's exactly the same when the MOT is current.
If you're in an accident with an illegal tyre!!!
Although your insurer may void your cover, in reality you will be ok unless you're involved in an incident. The police will check your documents and all will be ok.
