Struggling to find the correct fuse for the stereo, central locking, clock and interior lights

It's 1999 plus if this makes any difference as it seems most fuse boxes seem to differ slightly

Neither from the look of it, fuse holder #2 for the horns, stop lights sick ciggy lighter and stereo should be a 25 amp.

That would explain why both blew then!

I put a 25a after the 20a went, the 20a blew when I hit a pot hole, maybe a have a short somewhere

Thanks Joe

I've seen the leads chafe through on the chassis frame under the stereo so you could have a short there someone.

You've seen them on mine or in general?

Works very quiet so I can have a good look tomorrow

In general so it's worth checking the leads from the main connector all the way to the stereo.

I blew that fuse the other day when wiring in a new stereo.

It was a 10amp, identifiable by the little symbol of the interior light.

Switched it for a new one and stereo and interior light + clock working again smile happy days.

I've got a 25a in now, il check with a 10a but I do think there is a short somewhere as the stereo cut out again this morning when I hit a bump

This may come across as a stupid question but...

Is it a bad thing using a higher amped fuse?

Yes, that would be a fire hazard. If you have a dead short it'll blow a higher rated fuse anyway, or the maxi fuse under the bonnet.

You probably have a short from a wire rubbing somewhere in or around the centre console (most likely on the radio support frame), quite a common problem.

Yep definitely a short, blew 6 10a fuses in the process of finding it.

I've put some tape around the offending wire, which seems to have stopped it.

Temporary solution for now.
