Given the recent 'its quiet around here' thread, here's some something Coupe related to have a butchers at....

Thought I'd try something different rather than the polished or painted option for my centre console. I know dipping has been around for a while, but not something that seems that common place on the Coupé..

During the cleaning process i managed to get lots of white cloudy marks when cleaning off the rubber gunk so the polished bare plastic option wouldn't have worked for me.

Hydro Dipped in Carbon Gold. I'm not normally one for aesthetics for the sake of it, but it looks really good and I'm very pleased with the results!

Now just need to remember how everything goes back together!

What do people think?

How much did that set you back?

Superb. This costs less than people think or the available kits would suggest.
Wing mirror bodies next?

You beat me to it. I`m trying to get the local place to sponsor the car to get the price down.

Very nice!

I have plasti dipped mine and it marks so easily! so i would definitly be interested in this if it is durable enough to withstand clumsy kids feet!
Dont know much about this stuff, is it rock hard or easily marked?

Let us know if its a better option smile

Glad people approve!

It was £90 all in.

It's very durable. Lacquered so scratch resistant to an extent.

Looking forward to getting it fitted. Plan on keeping the metal rings which should hopefully finish it off nicely.

I know nothing of dipping, but I assume to get the pattern, you wrap the item and then dip for the gloss finish, or am I completely wrong? confused

By the way it looks great thumb

Mark,
As I understand it, the coating is floated on the surface tension of a liquid, then the item is slowly lowered into it so as to take the finish upon it's surface. Then the item is dried and then lacquered as per normal (sprayed). I think?

Okay, that makes sense. Steady hand required!
Thanks

Hi, time is a problem, but I am shipping the Autods body kit this week.

I hope to assemble the car over the next 4 weeks
