Before i crush Gills kangoo to a million peices of scrap with my digger!
Can anyone throw some light on the Radiator removal please.

State of play so far. Its a 2004 1.5 dci. Undertray, bonnet, grill, bumper, engine cover and fan assembly are removed.
I have the top & bottom hose undone at the engine end and top rad mounts removed.

Here is where its getting a pain. It wants to lift up but seems the air-con rad infront of it and a small intercooler type rad in front of that are all bolted together in a very difficult to unbolt way!

Whats the craic there then?

Surely they dont all lift out together? As i would loose all the air-con gas/fluid.

The coupes rads are a piece of cake compaired to this thing!

All help apprieciated.

Yes good luck with that......... box

I'm not familiar with Renaults being predominantly Coupe but is the top cross member removable?

I'll do some google'ing while I stop for tea.

Yes, maybe the upper cross member needs removed.

Grande punto needs the upper cross member and headlights removed to get the radiator out, so I've just left mine with the slight drip it's had from one end tank ever since I got it 4 years ago.

I'll get around to it one day. On the old Mk.2 punto it couldn't have been any easier, hoses off and literally a few minutes later the radiator just lifts out.

Nothing found but I can ask a mate in morning who works on French stuff if you've still had no joy.

Managed to download a Kangoo service manual so have stuck it on my webspace here:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sinister/Revue_Technique__RENAULT_KANGO.rar

let me know once you've downloaded it and I'll delete it.

It's in French BTW so no use me looking at it. smile

Hmmm , I've put the separate PDF files here then:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sinister/kangoo/

maybe you can open them individually from there.

Or just right click and "Save as" to save each one on your hard drive.

The one that looks most likely to help is this one, I think:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sinister/kangoo/KANGOO%20-%20Moteur%20et%20P%e9riph%e9riques.pdf

Radiator removal seems to be on page 61-5 of this one:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sinister/kangoo/KANGOO%20-%20Climatisation.pdf

Looks very basic though so probably not helpful.

Couldn't find an English manual but I found this other even more detailed one, in Spanish:

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/sinister/kangoo/MR380KANGOO1.pdf

In section 19A, page 19A-14 (page 777) it deals with removing the radiator and aircon condenser and it says:

Quote:
Nota:
Estas motorizaciones disponen de un conjunto
radiador y condensador indisociable.

which google translate converts to:

Quote:
Note:
These engines have a set
inseparable radiator and condenser.

Then it goes on about draining both the aircon and engine coolant systems before removal of the single radiator/condenser.

Might explain why yours don't seem to come apart easily?

Thanks very much Graham.

I have been on Ebay and a french parts site and the rads are sold seperate.

I will have another crack at it tomorrow night and see what shapes up.

It's in Section 19A starting at page 13 in the final PDA on GrahamL's list Joe.

The language has changed to Spanish though!

Oh yes its out!!!

I had a rest from it last night and gave some thought to it.

I took Joes advice and checked out that top member.

To remove it the headlights had to come out and unbolted from the wings, battery case and lower front member. Along with a couple of earth straps.

Very happy that i could then unbolt the rad from the air-con rad leaving the air-con intact.

Still a bit of teasing out but its out. Just got to order the right rad now as i have a choice of about 10.

I have saved myself upwards of 900 euros by doing it instead of a local renault garage.

I'll stick a pic up later.

Ouch, that's a lot of arse ache for a rad change but the financial saving is worth the hassle.

What were they thinking, Joe? That's a ridiculous amount of car to remove to change a rad...

Yes its been interesting, i have never come across a rad change like it.

In the past i have changed a Catapillar D7 bulldozer radiator in a morning!

Allthough i did have a Hiab crane with me. wink
