Impossible to say for sure without dumping the contents of the chip, you can't tell what code is on it from it's appearance.
The original, standard chip will usually have a white sticker so in that respect it's probably not the original, standard chip that came with the ECU when new.
Just 'cause it's not the original chip doesn't mean it's not a standard chip though, there are plenty of ECU's out there with the standard code on a non-original chip.

I see, good to know that, it's come from a 20vt that had a fmic 360 bearing turbo with staggered oil seals and a mbc along with a full system exhaust. But like you say you never know just from looking at it.
Cheers for the heads up. It won't be going on mine as I'm looking to uprate the turbo and have a live map from fc in the hopefully near future

What if it has been live mapped? Is it not possible that the original chip is in place but has been live mapped and therefore is non-standard despite any physical appearance or numbers? As Graham says above, the only way to be certain is to dump the contents.
I recently put a standard chip in MrsC's Coupe, as it was quite a handful in the low gears (more so than my own known-standard Coupe) and she wanted it a little tamer. The ECU had clearly never been opened but putting a (known) standard chip in certainly reduced the grunt, so live mapping was my diagnosis there.

The chip has to be physically replaced for live mapping as well. Unlike modern ECU's the coupe ECU has no hardware or firmware support for ISP (in system programming) even if the original chip was erasable, which it's not.
For realtime live mapping the firmware chip is replaced with eprom emulator hardware which is physically connected to a laptop. Once the new map is finalised it's written to a blank chip in the normal way and this is plugged into the ECU socket as usual.

Interesting, thanks Graham. MrsC's car was without doubt significantly faster than mine, with no obvious external extras (e.g. PRV etc) and when I stuck a std chip in the aforementioned unopened ECU, it calmed down significantly. Most odd!
