Good article. I agree, his designs do get better with age. There's now something quite handsome about the 5 series (e60 shape I think). Use to hate it which us why I've owned 2 e39s - the ones that still looked like BMWs.

I think Bangles designs will always be marmite (as in you love it or hate it). A guy came round our house the other day, looked at my coop, and asked "what the hell is that?" In a repulsive way. Motoring heathen. Then at the petrol station a guy came over to me and asked what it was because it was gorgeous. This really miffed the guy in front of me in his rather nice Golf GTI.

thanks, nice!
Been thinking the same, although I must say I've liked most of his BMW's from day one.
It helps, I suppose, having a Coupe in the first place. smile

Indeed the new 1-series just don't have anything the old one had in terms of balance in proportions etc, especially the M-kitted ones. Just imho..

Mmmm interesting. A guy ahead of his time.

On another point, my Mrs and Bangle share a like of the Nissan Duke. He didn't design it, but apparently he says it is one of the better designed/styled cars out there. I on the other hand really don't like the look of 'em. In fact, I think they are pretty hideous.

Perhaps I'll change my mind in 10 years.

"Better designed" does not mean 'pretty'. It just means it had been given a style. smile

Funny how side links take you on another journey, but after reading the Bangle article I clicked on this one. What a great story:

SR-71. From a long lost exciting era.... albeit a scary cold war one.

Amazing story. Imagine the faces of the other pilots !

Ah yes, but I'll bet you can get down to about 5-10mph - don't imagine an SR-71 can pull that trick.....
