I realise tyres have been done to death but been recommended some Prestivo Sport tyres £60 a corner (I need all 4) by local garage...looking online they appear to be made by Yokohama and have mixed reviews?

Anyone use these or are they cheap rubbish and best avoided?

Had Kumo's KU31's before (similar price) and they were ok?

I know folk spend ££££ on tyres and realise Falkens or Goodyears will be better, but anyone had anything decent in the 'mid-range' category or shall I fetch my coat..... coat

I'm getting on a bit so not looking for ultimate performance just something to keep me out of the ditch! rolleyes

inky goodness!!

Prestivo are definitely NOT in the mid-range category - they are firmly in the budget section - a classic "ditch-finder" and thus failing your main criteria...

Khumo and Falken both class as mid-range

Toyo Proxy TR1's David, they're a great all round tyre with the same tread pattern as the Eagle F1's but half the price.

Camskills is a good place to get a deal on 4 delivered.

Camskills 16"- 205/50/16

+1 for Toyo Proxes, except I go for 225/45/16 and have done on all of my Coupés, past and present.

£82.30 each inc VAT from Camskills, delivery and fitting extra. I just got two fitted during free MOT (earnt through loyalty scheme), for £95.00 each all in, balancing, valves, fitting, etc, at Drive In at Newton Abbot.

I have similarly priced Hi-Fly budget tyres on the front of my coupe and they're absolutely fine in the dry, really not much difference to premium tyres. But there's a major performance difference in the wet.

My coupe only goes out when the road is dry so the budget tyres are ideal, but if you drive in the wet I wouldn't condsider them at all.

Falken 914's are not expensive and get better reviews than toyos.According to most on here who have had falkens, they have always been good in the wetand dry and longer lasting than toyo's. I'm happy with my 4 new ones at 62 quid a shot fitted.

Another +1 for the toyo proxes. Had them on my camper van for 3 years now.

Camskill do Khumo Ventus 2 for £61 each in 205/50/16
If you drive in the wet and value your car, do not fit the Prestivo's or Infinity 040's either!

I had a pair of Toyo's fitted at Blackboots in Chesham for 75 each. I had come in wanting some Michelin Pilot Sports, but at that price I couldn't argue.

I have also never seen anyone take so much care when fitting tyres as much as they did. The service they gave was worth another 75 i think. Will definately be going back there again, but will probably upgrade to the Michelins again or try the Conti's

I had a Prestivo on the front of my Saab 9-3 recently and due to slow puncture needed replacing.
I replaced it with a Goodyear Eagle F1 to match the others on the car and the transformation of the ride quality was staggering?!?

When I bought my Alfa GT in May, it had four budget tyres fitted.

As I drove home, my opinion gradually drifted from "must get decent tyres fitted ASAP" to "these aren't as bad as I feared"

So - I left them on for a while, and was modestly impressed with how they seemed to cope in the dry. Yes, they squealed a lot when I chucked it into a corner, but not to the point where I wanted to spend £300+ to replace them.

Then it rained.....

Although it was mid-June, I could have sworn it was snowing, not raining - they were absolutely lethal - full-on four wheel drifts at around half the speed I could have done in the Coupe with Contis

the budgets were removed a few days later and a set of Falken ZE914 fitted, which although they aren't exactly sports tyres, were so much better than the budgets, they might as well have been trackday tyres

I accept that on occasion, price is the main factor, but I'd sooner fit good part-worns, than new budgets
