This car will pull away from a Stage 1 GTR R35... in a straight line!

Just out of sheer curiosity. Upon swapping the chips the car will only run on E85. Likewise swapping the chip is the only mod necesssry?

You know what I mean...

High high speeds. ..coupe has never felt as safe and solid as some other machinery when belting along plus torque steer.

This is getting unnecessarily negative now.

Liquid have you ever driven a 500 bhp coop before?

A well sorted one with fresh suspension components and a few choice chassis mods handles well and feels planted and certainly no torque steer.

To add i dont think fleas comment was to suggest this is a "better" car than an R35, although im also not saying it isnt. Merely was a comparison at how quick this car really is!

You must take into account that this is a sub £10k car which will out drag one that is what...still over £40k (not sure of used gtr prices). A huge amount of performance for the money. I would love to have a piece of or even just a ride in!

I have actually driven a 500 + coupe before, this actual one in fact. Im one of few who actually made the effort...maybe the only person to test drive it and actually made a solid offer of 7k cash...the same price it sold for on ebay! Unfortunately the seller wasnt happy with said offer etc etc so under no circumstances am I suggesting this car isnt worth buying as the above says otherwise...

What I am saying after 10 years of ownership of 7 coupes in various states of tune plus driving this one and spending ridiculous amounts of money over the years and owning a new m3...my opinion...is no coupe
feels as safe as modern machinery when you plant your foot. They are
awesome cars but there are better cars out there...and yes they do torque steer regardless of money spent. Even seller describes it as savage!

And

Fair enough, you did sound a little negative though.

Ive driven 2/3 500 bhp coops and none of them had torque steer, wheel spin yes, but no torque steer.

Agree with Liquid.

A brand new, standard coupe would torque steer at times, never mind one with 2x standard power or even more.

I used one word to describe the last 20vt coupe with more than 2x standard power that I drove and that word was "dangerous". It had completely new and uprated suspension and it definitely still suffered from torque steer.

We're talking about a car where the doors won't close properly if it's jacked up on that side, let's try to keep one eye on reality when comparing it to auto exotica. smile

The only comparison I can see is straight line speed.
Not cost, build quality, handling etc. Thats a different story. I dont even own a cop anymore because of some of the latter subjects ive just mentioned.

Or "straight(ish) line speed" in the case of a 500 bhp coop. laugh

Ah someone gets me! Thanks Graham.

And technics my original post was about feeling safer on a straight at speed...I mentioned torque steer later on. Fron my experience coupes have a tendancy to feel...floaty!?...at speed at times. Not all times but some which equals to the less safe feeling....plus coupes dont "feel" solid.

I will always love coupes. ..but they have many flaws and those flaws are getting more and more the older and more tuned they get.

Back on topic...if I could get my arse in gear and sell my plus I would put another offer on this car

Hi All

Been a while. smile

I own both of these missiles and I have to say the Coupe is brutally fast and needs taming constantly when loud pedal is engaged. laugh

GTR R35 has real street presence. standing starts are awesome, nothing compares off the line. After 9 months of ownership still exploring its limits in the bends.
Effortless, sublime and ready for action all the time. cool

Unbelievably great value for such a high powered car.

If I'd not just bought an LE I would snap this up. I'm genuinely surprised this has not sold yet.

After having taken out some temporary car insurance yesterday, I took my coupe out of the garage and drove down to west wales for the day.

I hadn't driven the car in a few months and the build up to taking it out on a sunny day was really exciting. My every day day car is a VW CC, and getting into the coupe after a long absence meant I had to remind myself where all the controls and switches were.

10 Minutes later I am on the open road wrestling to keep the thing in a straight line (up to the national speed limit of coursecop ), with a stupid gurn on my face trying to work out how to turn the wipers off. It really feels illegal in terms of the excitement it gives compared to the humdrum of my daily hack, which is a much more comfortable, relaxing, and for me familiar place to be.

Today, I hope (in a weird way), was the last spin I will have in the car as it really needs to find a new home. That said, I had a really good time; 90 miles for half a tank of fuel.... Need I say more bye

Long live the Fiat Coupe! Someone bloody buy this one please so I can buy nappies, high chairs, cots and other stuff that scares me much more than my coup laugh

Dave
