Hey guys. I am a newbie on the forum so bear with me!

On my recently purchased Coupé the previous owner fitted some 17" alloys, more specifically Record's from O.Z.'s, which are available on these specs and of which I am still not sure because I have not looked at the car properly since I've owned it (it's in a garage waiting on insurance clearance). I'll have to check ET and width as soon as I can.

These are my concerns:

  • I bet he did not corrected the odometer which means he made even more miles than it currently states but I could be wrong and the alloy+tire profile combination may keep the original measures.
  • acceleration is probably altered, being a larger diameter alloy the car is probably reaching a higher top speed at some point, but accelerating a tiny bit slower, which is the exact opposite of what I demand from a sports car
  • I did not check the current tyre profile but I bet they are 45's and I am really feeling the ride a bit too harsh for my likings and specially for a car that's now 16 years old

Having said that I am considering a change, probably back to 16", maybe original models (I like the one with the most spokes but dont know the name) or something aftermarket, but still not sure if I should keep the 17" which look better but may be less comfy.

With all this in mind I still need to consider something else, which is tyre size and I am currently legaly limited to fit one of the following:

  • 215/45 R16
  • 225/45 R16
  • 205/50 R16
  • 215/40 R17
  • 225/45 R17

These are the only sizes I can fit, anything else and I have to update my car's title and that would cost me. It's not really an option.

On a final note, I am not displeased with the look of these O.Z.'s, even If I usually prefer lots of spokes like their Super/Ultraleggera's and these are only 5, I do like them and am not looking to change for cosmetic reasons, purely comfort and technically wise.

Cheers

225/45R17 is out of tolerance
205/45R17 is not

235/40-17 or 215/40-17 are the common choices.
235 slightly larger diameter than std, 215 slightly smaller.

I can only choose one of these:

215/45 R16
225/45 R16
205/50 R16
215/40 R17
225/45 R17

And I dont have 16" wheels so that would mean I would need to sell the OZ's and get something in 16".

The car is currently running 215/40R17 and even though I dont think it is too harsh on nice roads I find it very noisy on badly maintained roads, also, the town where I live loves "roman roads" type of pavement so it sure is a damn circus in there once I get the car on those, just way too noise and squeaky!

Although I love the look ot the 17" I am considering swapping for 16" as factory, either one of the standard models or something more modern but I think I will face many problems since those OZ's are almost for certain not the same fit as Fiat's old 4x98 and the car has spacers fitted which means everything in there must be the same fit which then again, is not 4x98...

Decisions, decisions...
