"This Amilcar is a completely unmolested example, never been out in fifty years..." except to put some new tyres on it?

I saw the first part of the first show, but I'm afraid it all got too precious for me when they were getting celebrities to compare the original Mercedes Benz 300SL with a current MB equivalent outside some London awards ceremony.

The programme didn't make it beyond the first advert break here.

16VT and X1/9 1500

We must all do our part for the planet.
I unplugged a row of electric cars that nobody was using.

Yeah, the whole David Gandy bit was a little cheesy.

I have to say the original gullwing would be my fav.

Having said that, it is nice to have a prog dedicated to older cars.

I struggled through it last night.

And it was a struggle.

What they needed at the start was a good producer and a team of presenters that take it on board that most potential viewers for a classic car program are not going to be thick gullible dimwits.

Yep. It was crap.

Jodie Kidd's still looking decent though. Loved the Reimes in a Rep GT40 article.

Wilson is Crapp though and the third guy, who loves his TR7, what's he about.

So not total crap IMO, but a struggle to watch all of it and won't be setting the record button.

Well I tried another episode of this. It's got some good bits, and some not so good. The real cringe worthy moment was the segment on up and coming classics (the bit on the interactive HUD). Apparently the 1.9 205 Gti is the model to look out for.

I'll forgive the lack of consideration for the 1600. I'll even over look the omission of any of the genuinely rare models that would be worth having, or not mentioning the very late models that had their power output restricted due to emissions law. But when he said "an easy 130 mph", "0-60 in under 7 seconds", that was his credibility lost. End rant.

Quentin Wilson is just too smarmy! Jodie Kidd is good and a genuine car enthusiast?

I tried one episode and it didn't appeal at all. Quentin is awful in his presentation and I doubt it will air much longer.

I think it's the slick back hair and slimey, Jag driving, used car salesman persona. Shame though. Who would we vote to be Kidd's side kick ? And don't say Olly Murs !!!!

I met Jodie Kidd at last years Silverstone classic. She seemed to be very interested in the cars and she's certainly raced a few in her time (Maserati challenge?)

She took an XJ220 out a few minutes later and it burst into flames!

Wilson could play Dracula in a hammer horror movie same look and a cold attitude towards the working class.

I met Quentin semi-professionally around 1998 0r 1999.
My then employer's insurance sales force had a National Sales seminar at Harrogate Conference centre and QW was the compare.
I had to do a brief talk to the conference, as a relatively new joiner and was pretty nervous, something QW's attitude at rehearsals did little to abate. However, Murray Walker was also a guest speaker and he took the trouble to put me at my ease, with just a smile, a nod and a thumbs up.
The difference between the too personalities could not have been greater.
After our rehearsals, I and the other company speakers had a mini car debate with QW, where he extoled the virtues of either the then current XK or XJ, strongly encouraging a successful colleague to buy one.
My temporary company wheels had just changed form a tired pool Mondeo (which I detested), to slightly less unpleasant pool car, a newer Vectra LS hatch.
As I had just had a Vectra GSi on loan for a week, (as a potential new company car crazy), I tried to come to the Vectra's relative defence in view of my Mk1 Mondeo experience. QW did not pull his punches in sticking to the slating the then TG team had given the Vectra. He was probably right, but the GSi certainly made a great noise!!
On the motorsport theme Stuart Turner was a guest speaker (exc BMC and Ford Motorsport), as was the great Stirling Moss who dished out the sales awards. I got to talk to Stuart at lunch and until then I had know idea who he was!
https://stevemckelvie.wordpress.com/2013...-in-motorsport/
The whole thing must have cost a small fortune to put on, yet the entire tied sales force was disbanded within 9 months!!!! Happy days but madness!

QW is just so public schoolboy surprised he's not a member of the tory party

Just checked out your link £91 for the book or 40 odd second hand must be a good read at that price!

Sorry I didn't notice the price, but I should imagine it is a good read for those interested in 60s & 70's British motorsport.
