So this is why you don't borrow your car to your GF.

I guess the damage to the car might be the same or more than the value of the car in the end if there is much damage to the metal & wheels and shit... waiting for the tow truck to bring it to the garage so I can take a real look at it.

I have had this car for over 10 years - felt like I saw an old friend bleeding in the ditch when I came to the scene sick

Bad times, I presume everyone involved were ok?

Girlfriend is ok yeah, she was also only one in the car so.

What sucks though is I am unemployed since January and can't afford to do shit with the car at the moment. My mechanical skills are good enough to change/replaces turbos and equipment, but bent metalwork... no idea how to judge what is compromised in that deparment and damage to wheels/suspension and the like. No pressure in the coolant pipes so I guess they broke somewhere as well, Oil coolers is bent a bit backwards as well.

Some damage in the engine compartment

The whole package with radiators is bent inwards towards engine, no damage to turbo and such though

You wont be able to really tell until you get the bumper, slam panel and radiator off.
If the chassis legs and crumple zones are ok the rest of the engine bay stuff should be repairable.

But you need to check body for twisting and subframe's for damage/body attachment problems.

Its a real shame but for insurance purposes I'd say that's a write off. If you have salvage retention you might be able to repair it but then its a Cat D car.

On the positive side no ones been hurt, which is all that really matters.

Sorry looking at it again and the way the engines moved, I think chassis legs, etc may well have been damaged.

You can see chassis leg bend by the pulley front right where the paint has come off.

You may want to look for a donor shell or start stripping in the hope the parts will raise enough to buy another one!

Feel for you, my wife isn't insured on my Coupe for this exact reason....

Thanks for your feedback lost55! I'll try to remove as much as I can still and see if I will simply use this car as a spare parts car for... maybe a new Coupe once I get a new job wink

Maybe a 2000 Limited Edition car this time smile
Still feel sad to lose my partner in crime after 11-12 years of driving it sick

Thanks for the advice Big_Muzzie!

Sad thing is I usually don't even use the car during winters, but since my GF's car did not pass the inspection due to rust, I had to sacrifice it for winter driving this time... I had pretty good winter tires on it as well but.. meh.

You need seperate insurance per person driving in the UK? Here in Finland the insurance is per car, so anyone can drive. I guess both systems has theirs pros and cons.

Yeah if I get a new Coupé she can only dream of driving it wink

Oh dear oh dear. At least no-one was hurt, and in all circumstances I've seen a coupe accident it's the same story, the car itself is quite solid. Even an upside-down one a couple of years ago didn't result in extreme personal damage (some yes, but could have been worse.)

We drive a reasonably safe car.

Bugger, another bites the dust! Glad your GF is ok and no lasting injury. My wife is insured but has decided it's not a car she wants to risk driving unless it was an emergency.
Hope you manage to resurrect something out of the car to help fund another smile

Very glad only pride was hurt. With those trees around it could have been a lot worse.
Hopefully the value of parts will get you somewhere close to being able to afford a suitable replacement?
