Well it Looks like we're on the move again as I've just been offered a job up near Coventry, at the university of Warwick.
I'm looking for any tips, recommendations etc for nice places to live. Not keen on Coventry itself but places like Warwick, Leamington, Kenilworth seem nice from what I've read.
Anyone on here live up in these parts and have any advice?

My wife is Leamington born and bred Anthony. Pop round and I'm sure she can fill you in on where not to go.

Firstly, congratulations on your new job.
I was born in Cov and lived there for 30 years and now live in Rugby. I work in Warwick/Leamington.
Leamington is very nice, plenty of shops and restaurants in town, nice parks and a good Sports Centre. Out of town shopping available too. Warwick is a little smaller with a more limited shop/restaurant offering.
I'm not sure about schooling in either place if that's a factor when moving.
Nello also lives in Warwickshire, I think he's nearer Kenilworth.
If you prefer a slower pace of life away from Leamington and Warwick, there are some nice towns and villages within striking distance. Baginton, Kenilworth, Stoneleigh, Hatton, Shrewley and Balsall Common to name a few.

A few more miles out is Alcester. A lovely town and a good fast road to Warwick, 20 mins commute for me.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Pete, I may well take you up on the offer - it would be great to catch up with you both in any case, as it has been far too long! Just to add, we will be renting a place at least for the first 12 months, probably not looking to spend more than £900 - £1000 per month, and would prefer a 3-bed. Schools not an issue at the moment, as my daughter is only 4 months old . I like the idea of being in or near a fairly large town like Leamington, but equally happy to be in a more rural area if it is within reasonably close proximity of a larger place (short drive). Garage is a must!

Sorry only just noticed this one - I was born in Cov and live back there now in Earlsdon which is a town within the city and not like anywhere else here. The further south of Cov the more money so depends on your budget but the nearer Stratford you go - the closer to the Cotwolds and then its very expensive. Earlsdon is only 5 mins drive from Warwick Uni. Kenilworth/Leam would be ideal as well. The area gets a bad press and in the 80's Cov was damn rough - everyone thinks its all industrial but theres alot of greenery and smashing villages if you know where to go. If you want any specifics or anything checking out let me know mate.

Thanks Nello, We looked at a couple of places in Leamington and Warwick and also Earlsdon and Tile Hill. But in the end we found a nice place over in Dorridge near Solihull. Not exactly where I'd planned, but it's only 25 mins to Warwick uni and about the same to Gaydon where I also need to work sometimes, so overall very pleased. Cheers for the help and info!

NP mate glad you got somewhere sorted. I know Dorridge and the whole area well as my bro-in-law is in Solihull. That'll be your Mrs. dragging you over to Touchwood then!
