Well,...that's the end of my Coupe experience!!!

Lasted all of 6 months!

Giving the fella I've worked with all day a lift home and the big end threw in the towel.

That's going cost me an arm and a leg that I haven't got to donate. I know it's due, belts and a clutch, and a fair bit of bodywork, so I think that's probably curtains for me now!

Sorry to hear that. Late night post and the word "probably" means I hope the new day brings a new perspective and a way forward.

Tbh clutch and belts cost about the same as a new motor.
Would you like some help with the man maths? I think you'll find you can't not replace the motor / rebuild forged or the world will end!! laugh

On a serious note, sorry to hear this.

Definitely get a new engine....there is one on ebay for 225 at the moment.

Thanks Mark, just wished I had the cash to throw at it. Maybe I need to save and spend a bit more on a more sound Coupe. Just looks a million miles away at the moment, and I've def got the Coupe bug now. Thanks for your support mate!

Thanks mate, that's a bit of encouragement. I'm going have to do some serious thinking and decide whether that's the answer.

Thanks again for your help mate!

What a pisser, sorry to read you've had issues Mark frown

One thing with buying second hand engines from Ebay, if you can buy one from a car that's running so it can be tested as I fitted a second hand engine for a customer a couple of weeks ago and the replacement supplied from Ebay was worse then the one I removed.

Thanks mate, yes, that's another concern to add to the list. I'd really love to have a Coupe, as I've really fallen for them, but I think this one is R.I.P.

Thanks again Countrycruising!

Is your coupe a tidy one? If so then it's a shame to break or sell.
Good advice from Country cruising. But money is always a problem.
Rebuilt engine is the way to go but costly.

I hope it works out for you.

Hopefully you can sort something Mark.
Is it your daily driver?
Can you get a run around and then start saving for the repairs?
I appreciate the task may seem insurmountable but "How do you eat an elephant?"

That's a bummer right enough Mark. No consolation to your situation but I'm in deep with my Coop. Found a garage up here to look at an oil leak & some other issues. Engine had to come out, loads of parts need replaced. Refurbished turbo, a/c radiator, exhaust manifold, engine mount, gaskets etc plus time & more= a few grand. I'm in too deep to stop.

I feel your pain.

The arches are all rusty, and around Pininfarina badges, boot leak, Binet has a small rust patch. The interior is fairly tidy, but now this has happened, it's got me thinking.

Thanks again mate!

Yes mate, it's my daily drive as I've killed the Punto. Might see if I can get that airborne then as you say, try and save for either repairs, or another Coupe.

Ach I knew what I was letting myself into when I purchased the beast. I still feel compared to other sports cars they're a bargain & cheap in comparison.

I don't smoke & don't frequent the pubs, so this is how I justify spending my hard earned on my toy....Even have the go ahead from the Mrs.

I Know what I have regarding my Coop. Body wise & underneath it's in good shape. Recent suspension refresh which wasn't cheap plus other things all add up to keeping the beastie. Besides I would have to lash out more to get something else in the same league. That's my justification...... wink

So sorry to hear this! If it happened to me I think I would get a cheap runabout while I fixed up the Coupe bit by bit as I could afford it. Please don't break it!

Thanks, I'm not quite sure what to do at the mo. God only knows how much getting the big end sorted would cost. Not sure what my best plan of action is with regards to finances

More bad news, probably will find extra things to sort out the same as me the more you delve..This is the sting in the tail. You just can't get away by doing only the big end shells, but I'm sure you've thought of that. Sorry to point out the obvious by the way....

Thanks Jimboy, unfortunately, I have nowhere myself to do even the most basic of maintenance on the car. A friend from work was a mechanic and I lumbered him with my Punto. I really don't want to lean on him anymore as everyone at work takes libs with him
