Hi Guys,

Just had my Fiat coupe 20V turbo fail the MOT on a couple of minor things, the rear wheel bearing and the rear brake compensator spring was snapped" nothing to major.

I am about to order a new rear wheel bearing kit of Europarts however the first two rear wheel bearing kits mention" ABS without ABS
and the other bearing kit says"ABS with ABS.
All their kits are for a Fiat coupe 20v turbo" mine is not a LE model. Therefore does it matter which rear wheel bearing kit I buy, or does it have to be the ABS with ABS" bloody Europarts being confusing :0)

I think they mean.....

Q. ABS? A. Without ABS

Q. ABS? A. With ABS

They also mention 'active sensor bearing' on both descriptions above........... which I thought relates to the ABS pickup rotor sensor?.

Didnt all UK Coupes come in with ABS ?.

Yes it will have ABS - Careful which bearing you get, some are much poorer quality than others!

I've heard that the cheaper wheel bearings are usually worth avoiding.

I've bought mine from Alternative Autos and they provide the SKF ones which I think were OE. They last very well as I think I have replaced one once and the other twice, but my car has done over 190k miles.

Eurocar parts stock bearings are shite as they're made of cheese and last only a few hundred miles, so as mentioned above purchase SKF from Steve at Alternative Autos.

I second the SKF statement.

Many aftermarket suppliers originate their stock in the far east (China etc), with a buy in price probably around 22% of what stockists would pay for a comparable bearing machined by perhaps more fastidious sources such as SKF.

The far eastern ones do not last when used in industry (I know ! ) and it would be reasonable to assume that they will have a limited life on vehicles as well.

It may improve of course, in the years to come, but at the moment go for proven quality.
