Hi everyone. After 3 years of motorway driving in a diesel I'm finally in a position to buy a weekend toy. Went through the "which car" dilemma for a while and have settled on a 20VT fitting the bill. The bonus being the other half quite likes them as well.

Just thought I'd introduce myself o/

Welcome to the fold. I hope you enjoy owning one. What model are you looking to get?

Good luck and hope you find a nice one. My advice, buy from a specialist or one with lots of history and keep a grand floating around to maintain it properly, that way you should get maximum pleasure and minimum headaches.

Hello. Good choice!

Have you thought about a non- turbo, an n/a?

Same body work problems but less to go wrong mechanically.

Happy car hunting.

Thanks for the welcome.

I'm set on a turbo, as late as possible. Really after the power for a toy. Favoured colour is red or blue. The appealing part for me is the small initial outlay of 2-3k and then maintaining with the slush fund. Had spent my time agonising over changing my daily for something like a BMW 335 or CLK but preferred the idea of keeping my a diesel for day to day and something more focussed for fun.

There's one in the forums classifieds sold by rush that looks to fit the bill with the level of history, will drop him a message.

Hi and welcome Matt. You've joined a fantastic forum, full of very helpful people and a wealth of great advice.

Take your time looking for a good one, I viewed loads of them before finding the right one for me.
Use the forum buyers guide too, it's a must have tool that will hopefully save you buying a bad one.

Hi Matt,
please read the 'what am I getting into' post in the coupes for sale section: it is getting less relevant with time as more of the coupes for sale are better maintained - the really bad ones have tended to be scrapped - but it's still worth checking!
