So I went on my holidays last sat for a week to Cornwall, drove a total of 970 miles in 7 days all in the wife's 2008 VW polo diesel. All very nice, couldn't fault it.

Got home today and picked my le up from my dad's, now bear in mind I've had all new suspension, clutch, brakes in less than 3000 miles, well I was shocked at the difference between the two cars. My first thought was my brakes don't work lol, the polo's are so servo'd. Gearbox felt loose, the clutch was too sensitive, cabin rattling over the smallest road bumps.

Took me about an hour to get back into the feel of all things coupe...... Oh I have missed it love

I know how you feel. Mines been up at Joe's for a couple of weeks being sorted.
And boy have I missed it...
I've only owned it for a few months, and it's got right under my skin. love

What colour is yours, Bobby? I ask because mine was there between Sat n Thurs last week.

I know what you mean, Met.

Mine sits at home and I think about the costs.
I get behind the wheel and I think Wow. What a car. Sound, presence, style .

I took my 7 year old to a footy tournament this morning and nothing in the car park bettered my Coupe for interest bowtie

It's Porto Huw.
Might have been in his other lockup waiting its turn.

I asked Joe to take me out for a spin in a turbo Coupe when I picked up my Vis.

He couldn't.

He said he had had a mare of a day and just couldn't.

Yup, I was disappointed.

But then, was it for my benefit?

Taste the forbidden fruits, or stay with the the devil you know ?!?!

I drive mine every day, several times a day, but when I went to SpaItalia as a passenger a few years ago with proccy, it meant not driving a Coupe for 4 or 5 days.

proccy let me drive his on the 4th day and the feeling of being back behind the wheel of a Coupe was brilliant, I'd really missed it, even though I tend to just take my Coupe for granted, I hadn't realised how much I'd missed driving a Coupe smile

i ran a VT6 last year 2 weekends off and 1 weekend on; great sense of occasion each time i used it; lots of little things make the car so different to anything else - simply opening the doors with the adverse handles, sitting in the seats, looking at the dash, starting with the button, listening to the idle note (watching the oil pressure :-) ). all pleasures without even moving the car.

sold that car in november and not driven a couple since. am really missing it at present, and can't wait to get the LE going.

cracking cars!

Strangely I have myself in the position of having to drive my Coupé more than 2000 miles over the next Three weeks. Oddly I have to confess that I'm not too sure I'm looking forward to it! shocked

Probably something to do with driving 2000 miles stateside in a 2015 Ford Mustang convertible. I fear this is going to make the Coupé feel rather small and old frown

Hah! I'll see your two thousand miles and raise you another two thousand - I'm going the pretty way!

After twenty years the coupe is a car that just fits me. I get in and in a moment I am reaccustomed to the weight of the steering and the other controls - everything modern is just too light for my taste. I don't *want* to steer with one finger; there's no feeling of proper control with that.

Sure it's old; sure it's noisy; sure it gets warm in the sunshine; sure neither the handling nor the road-holding is as good as a modern - and I would not expect it to be: the modern has at least twenty years more development in it.

But little else has the same sense of driving involvement... it's a classic; treat it as one and enjoy it as one.

p.s. Bob - what's your itinery? Are you joining the Norwegians up from Oslo on Thursday?
