Boost build on snow ? #15503

I just installed the DV26 today but I can not test it because everything is covered in snow and the wheels will just spin if I push it.

Now , question is , does the boost suppose to build up if wheels are spining around in the snow or not ?

I am in first gear , then change second and at 40-50km/h push it.. the boost will go up from -0.5 to 0Bar but nothing over 0 as the wheels don't have any grip.

It's the boost suppose to build up anyway or I have a defective dump valve ? Didn't try to put back the Bosch and test again and just wanna know before I change back and test again.

even in neutral, free revving it should still boost enough to make the dump valve work.

doesnt the standard chip limit boost in first and second gears if the wheels are spinning?

this is a sort of phil, it detects the revs rising too quickly and cuts the spark to limit the revs.
somoeone on here will explain it further i don't know the exacts of it.

I have a non standard chip.
Can someone try to spin on snow tomorrow and watch the boost gauge ?
Would be the most simple sollution.
And I don't think in free gear the boost will go anywhere over 0.

Try in a higher gear. Should be easier to build boost with some loading on the engine.

I am thinking to actually start cleaning some road in the front of the garrage and see , or try to take it on highway tomorrow ... it should be no snow. I have the old bosch in the trunk and screwdrivers ready just in case it's something wrong with the Bailey

And after the New Year I will start making those How To's with photos for Boost controller , alarm system with trunk pop up , DV , Compression test , AFR , Navigation system ..

Turbochargers only build up boost when the engine is under load - so if you sit in neutral and blip the throttle, no significant boost gets built up

But if the wheels are spinning, then this has taken load to make happen, even on low friction surfaces, so you should be able to check the dump valve operation in third gear at least

It was the snow. Valve dumping right now that the roads are clear and the boost builds up as it should.
Thank you all for feedback.

1. There will be no boost build with car standing still and booting it on free gear.
2. Boost will drop as soon as you have wheel spin in 1-2 gear.Didn't try in 3rd as road still slippery and I have boost adjusted at 0.6-0.7 for now.
