Did they make two types of interior light for the front?

Is the passenger always supposed to get the benefit of the map reading light?

Or, from a RHD perspective, is it a legacy from the larger LHD market- and 'should' it be pointing at the driver?

Well, given that almost every conceivable topic has been covered,

It's refreshing to suggest a question that genuinely can't be answered!

Or, maybe it's not just interesting enough!!.

The lights units are all the same on both LHD and RHD models, but they seem to of designed them for the LHD model due to the map light being right side of the unit.

THAT is what I wanted to know thankyou...

But, it shines across the the left, which is odd- as if it's set up for the driver's use in the home market...

So, in the RHD market, although it is still mounted on the right, it is for passenger benefit...

And exactly where does the navigator sit when you're the driver?

maybe it's been fitted the wrong way round since the start of production!

i think these little details are fascinating- like the transparent window in the top of the ashtray, which was I suppose going to be illuminated, but the detail ever made it into production

it's like the sociality that Pininfarina imagined, 'beyond' the functionality...

I modified mine to fit the other way round, so the map reading light (the little magnified one) is now on the left. The compromise is that I had to lower the rear view mirror so it doesn't get in the way of the light switches.

wow! really??

*respect*

so, you've mounted it in reverse?

I was going to try for backlighting on the switches, as they don't illuminate in the dark...
