I transported my new spare 20VT engine last week. You can carry it with two persons, not alone (unless you are heavy weight lifter and don't mind crushing the engine).

Grab and heave. Average sized men (in physical appearance, for the rest ask my wife ). I wouldn't take it upstairs, but transporting 10 meters by hand is doable. It was the whole engine, from rocker cover to oil pan.

Start with some mental excercise. Really, i am not so strong. Must say the engine was without oil. But like i wrote including sump, rocker cover, so also e.g. Including all the shafts and oil pump. Perhaps make a step or park the back of the van near a sideway to reduce amount of height difference? During moving we rested by letting the engine rest on the sump. We had some old carpet where we did it. However, it needs supporting cause otherwhise it will flip.
