A little birdie suggests that I should get my Dad a torque wrench to use on his bike for Christmas. As there's a few cyclists on here I thought I'd ask your good selves if you have any recommendations, it's for road bikes. A quick Google brings up something like this but any other suggestions welcome.

Up yours Photobucket.

Do NOT get the BBB one form Ribble cycles. The trouble I have found is that with such low torques, around 10Nm, the click wrenches can fail to click, or you just don't feel it.

However Lifeline stuff you linked too is great. But do practise first

The reason for this is that until you see how it works knowing you have torqued up is not obvious. There is no ratchet once the set torque is reached rather the body of the wrench makes a slight click and turns slightly. Obvious when you know what you are looking for, if not can easily be missed. If you miss this signal then the wrench will continue to tighten the bolt. (the instructions say the head will twist but in practise this can't happen as the head is fixed to the bolt so it is the body that twists slightly).

Great value too.

I've a couple: one from my local tool factors and one Superstars one - both are fine.

Is the Superstars one this one?

Looking at the reviews it looks like they both have a bit of a learning curve with regards to the feedback. I guess that's to do with the limitations of the smaller size.

Yup - that's the one. I got mine half price. Can't imagine why people are struggling with them.

Just that the click isn't obvious until you're used to it so you could end up over tightening. There are also comments that there seems to be some manufacturing variance with regards to how obvious the click is between wrenches in that it's really obvious for some but not for others.

If you have any idea at all about torque wrenches, the Superstars one is obvious
