Wow, the forum is being a bit slow on this one Anyone seen it yet then? I saw it on Saturday and loved it. JJ has done a proper job of this, episodes 1,2,3? Forget them, this is what they should have been. I've spoilered the title, just in case people haven't seen it and don't want to know that Jar Jar Binks is the new evil emperor

Took the kids to this on Saturday and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Definately lots of nods to the originals and a welcome ignoring of the other ones.
Up yours Photobucket.

Couldn't help feeling that it was the original star wars all over again... lots of fun but couldn't help feeling I'd seen it before.
To be honest, I spent half the film trying to work out how I'd build that little round robot. I think I have a mechanism... Lalaalalallalalallalalalal................. Some of us haven't watch it yet so no spoilers!

I was married the same year Star Wars originally came out in '77. Never saw the film in it's entirety yet, just bits & pieces over the years. Never really saw the attraction myself. According to statistics that puts me in the minority. I'm comfortable with that. May you live long & pro....no wait wrong watchamacallit.....
I'm an old git & happy with it,most of the time

To be honest, I spent half the film trying to work out how I'd build that little round robot. I think I have a mechanism... I'm glad I wasn't the only one who was trying to work out how BB8 operated and I've corrected the title for you

...taking the kids next week so I can focus on child control... Our two actually sat still for the entire film which is really saying something, you might even get to watch the film twice!

I took my grandson to see it this afternoon, he thought it was excellent. I quite enjoyed it too, must have been the first time I have been to the cinema for well over 20 years.

Awesome!!
I really ensured it. Makes episode 1 to 3 look irrelevant and wooden, and I am so ready to go watch it again!
Really did enjoy it. There are films that are entertainment, and films that are landmarks in time. This was another land mark in time!!

Something that it's probably too late to make you a convert of. I can't help but feel that you either need to have seen the original trilogy at the time or have seen it as a kid to really get it. I did neither. I watched the first two (IV and V) recently for the first time and they were ok. But I assume the hysteria is more to do with nostalgia than because they are good films.

****** SPOILER ALERT ******
I went to see it last night and as a film, it was good.
However (IMO)........
Was it that different from Episode 4? No. Loner wandering desert befriends Droid? Check. Droid has information for rebels? Check. Baddies want to destroy goodies planet? Check. Bar scene with weird and wonderful alien life? Check. Stormtroopers still can't hit a barn door from 5ft? Check. Final scene where goodie pilot defies all odds to take out the baddies evil weapon? Check. etc. etc.
Are the leads as strong as Fisher, Ford and Hamill? No.
The unmasking of Ren, although a big part of the story does take away some of the mystery so early on in the trilogy.
I thought the star of the film was Ford. His 'chemistry' with Chewie was the same as ever. He'll be missed in the next installments.

Saw it today.
It was a good star wars film, but only an ok film.
It was exactly the same as the first one, and the original appear almost as an afterthought, s hope horned in kind of like at the end if a long running series characters from the previous episodes appear as a cameo.
I'd give it 6.5 kassel runs out of 10 parsecs or something.... Just got back from watching it. This. Felt like 'let's wheel out the oldies one last time'. Luke Skywalker looks like Eddie Izzard.
Coopless!

Just saw this last night, must say i was grinning most of the way through it, i thought it was brilliant, brought back lots of childhood memories, its the best Star wars film since the original!
Yes there were so many similarities but this is Star wars for the new generation, this was the joining and parting "out with the old in with the new" if you like! This will get us to be familiar with the new characters and stop the pining for the old!
Now about the film i was trying to work out who was who and i thought that Han solo was Rey's father but then they threw in that Kylo was his son, but Rey clearly has jedi tendencies so perhaps Luke's or Leia's? hmmm.
Luke was saved by the Millennium Falcon swooping down when something blew up in previous star wars, (Empire strikes back?) so is Han really dead he was ultimately the star of the show so would they really kill him off? I was a bit surprised of the really short appearance of Luke at the end so i expect another Star wars pretty soon and hopefully with Han Solo in it! Was it just me or did anybody else notice it, they were pronouncing "Han" as "Harn" sure it used to be just Han!
Rey was a fantastic Character and played very well in a Luke type fashion
Loved the Film cant wait for the next one!

Took my lads to the new IMAX at the NEC on New Years Eve....... a bit pricey but made for a film like this! Loved it! As mentioned the prequels should have been like this. Apparently filming for the next one starts this week!

I thought more end of life Oliver Reed +1 I'm not a dyed in the wool SW fanatic, but thought it was pretty good overall. Fairly confusing at times, but that's probably because I can't remember the plots of the other films. PS, another looky likely. But Rey (Daisy Ridley) simply must be Keira Knightley's younger sister. So there. Oh, and apparently she doesn't like being compared.

I thought it was too much like all the others. I got bored early on after a long build waiting to see it. Didn't rate it as a movie but the effects were great.
