Just been given a friend's computer to make virus/malware safe but it's a Chromebook. I've never used one of these things before so any recommendations of what to use whilst I go off Googling the question?

For PCs I've been using a combination of MSE/Defender on Win 7/8/10 for a few years now with no issues. Anything that is similarly efficient and unobtrusive would be ideal.

Initial googling is indicating that beyond checking installed extensions there isn't much to do.

Ahem. This message brought to you from Linux Mint installed on a Toshiba Chromebook 2... couldn't live with chromeos.

Never found a need for much protection from virus and the like with Linux (though I believe that some of the latest ransomware can trash your files if you're daft enough to open random links...)

The point with the chromebook is that everything is stored online, and the chromebook can be restored to factory in ten minutes.

I've told them to come and pick it up without me doing anything. The friend in question was a bit concerned as I'd just spent the last two days getting some rather irritating malware from one of their other kid's laptops caused probably by being

The chromebook belongs to a 10 year old so no danger of being

Good to know that the reset is easy and very quick.
