I've dabbled in climbing before, so I get the thrill/sense of achievement associate with scaling something tall/difficult, especially if it's some sort of record, a notable structure or its 'off-limits'.
But swinging around one handed off a crane in Eastern Europe is just showing off and asking for trouble.
Agreed, Ali; climbing is one thing and free-climbing obviously adds an additional thrill, but I guess I'm just too risk-averse to see merit in what is - essentially - showing off.
It's probably statistically less dangerous than show-jumping, which I've had to get used to with my kids!
In my younger years I wouldn't of thought twice about climbing something like this, many times I've climbed a 50+ft smoke stack ladder to sit on the top admiring the view around.
Now when I watch these videos my stomach drops and I wouldn't dare think about climbing without safety equipment, I think it's age as I was fearless and always being shouted at to 'come down' by my Father when out on site working.
