Hi I'm after some help guidance on a tddi mondeo clutch
Basically the clutch seems knackered but my wife had mentioned the pedal has stayed down on a few occasions and she has had to flip it up with her foot but then it's been ok
Before I condem the car to the scrapper is this a simple fix and possibly making the clutch not disengage properly?
Failing that was told to do a clutch would be £1000-£1200
Is this about right? Is it easy to do over a weekend if I had to as this sort of warrants getting another car with unknown history for reliability which bothers me perhaps more than it should
Also really want to sort something so the Mrs doesn't start to use my car shocked
Any info help or even offers of a free repair or runaround considered biglaugh hehe
Well if you don't ask!

Cheers

If the pedal is sticking then it's probably a failing master cylinder.
Unfortunately it's inside the gearbox and if it's leaking may well have contaminated the clutch plate.
Clutch kit and cylinder can be had for £250-300 and I had the same done on my Cmax for £480 all in.

Hi thanks for replying!
It's currently difficult engaging gears whilst stationary particularly reverse
The clutch has been vibrating for a while now I had presumed the dual mass flywheel has failed but the clutch was fine so I'm guessing your price was without a dual mass flywheel! forgot to mention that bit
I guess the master cylinder has had enough of the flywheel if it's all in the same place! Hmmm

It could just be the cylinder thats going making gear selection difficult, but the box needs to come off to get at it so it's probably worth doing the clutch/flywheel while you're in there.

You could do the solid flywheel conversion with valeo clutch and cylinder for around £150 plus labour.
