This could be the 'post to nowhere' .... but I'll give it a shot

It's been said time and time again. "I missed driving my coupe" "I love getting back in the old girl" "There's something about the coupe"

Is it possible to encapsulate the coupe experience? People often ask what are they like. We often say the above; so should we all chip in with a sentence or two and see if we can summarise after a number of posts....

I'll start

Cruising around slowly in my inconspicuous coupe - knowing that if I wanted to, I could make most all cars on the road eat dust. Even super cars can be easily slain with a modified coupe

A very capable car that gets under your skin and just gives and gives.

It was the engine noise for me, best described as "aural crack".

A car with character, it makes modern cars feel linear and dull. A coupe has personality, the odd firing order 5 pot means that it also has its own voice.
I think for me it's:
Rarity and sense off occasion, it feels like a super car, gets double takes like a super car yet it's 'mondeo' motoring money!

Love at first sight. And the love hasn't faded laugh
The Coupe for me has some sort of aora which invites you drive.....drive like Italian cars should be driven.
Fast, elegant, tastefully,....

And have to say that the Coupe is not in the "ordinary" Fiat league....it something else. Much more love

Sometimes I just go for a drive just to think, relax, enjoy....and smile cool

Makes you feel special every time you drive it.

The driving position and the ergonomics are just right, even down to the electric window switches.

As with others, for me it is the combination of sound and the sleek looks. A sense of occasion. I still can't get my head around the fact that I'd rather drive my Coupe than any brand new exec saloon.

It's a Fiat, but it was built in the same factory as some of the most iconic cars in history. It is a special Fiat. They literally broke the mould afterwards.

It puts a smile on my face when I open the garage door and a even bigger grin when I spin up the engine and a 5 pot symphony hits my ears

If it's Italian and it looks good, sounds nice and goes fast but isn't a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani or Maserati, it's probably a Fiat Coupe. Or an Alfa GTV.

Makes my heart beat a little faster, my breathing slightly shallower and my wallet considerably lighter.........i love it all!

having had a modified M3 for 18 months with every conceivable extra, a wonderful piece of engineering in it's own right and super fast at all times - it's still not a coupe, and i need to get back in one, mine, very soon love

I don't have my coupe yet - my last one was 352bhp and the M3 is 360bhp so not much difference statistically. However, the M3 feels considerably quicker in getting to high speeds.

We all know too well the Fiat badge is why so many dismiss our cars in complete ignorance. A true petrol head needs no encouragement to appreciate greatness. Don't bother trying to convince the urine extractors when you've already got their number. wink
It's the coupé experience that wins hearts, minds and our loyalty.

For me it is the timeless look of it. Even when compared to new metal it stands out as something special to some or at least different and worth looking at to others.

The best mod to make the Coupe literally timeless - replace the clock with a boost gauge.

I think the original advert did pretty well to encapsulate it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fza5pPlBOoo

For me it was the sublime design that sold it for me. I never expected the performance to be anything like a match for the looks. It's the performance in 3rd gear that's the key and always kept me entertained.

It looks gorgeous and nobody on the road has a clue what it is.

It snaps petrolheads' boxer elastic at 50 yards...to bar$tardise a famous Clarksonisim

The Coupé is a part of me! Everybody who knows me, thinks that. I love the looks, the sound, the performance of "just" a Fiat. Friends see (and with my previous 20vt: hear) me from miles ahead.. It's just me.. and the Coupé!

My every day car is faster, handles well and is much more comfortable. Then I get in the Coupe it just feels special, it has personality, it has a heart. A car that has that becomes much more than 'just a car' She feels like she's alive

It's something very rare for design, it is not a product of some wind tunnel or silicon chip. Fiat dared to be different many years ago.

It is practical, has a big boot the only problems you have will be fighting your way through the crowds and if you're over 6ft, head room can be an issue (though with plus seats there is more room).

It has a sledgehammer of an engine smile

For an itailian car it's unusual

The last time I had this much fun in an italian car it cost £190,000...

Summarises Mr Clarkson (apart from the bit in brackets).

Patch234, my friend had an Alfa 916 GTV 2.0 V6 turbo with an custom exhaust, and I have to say that was quite a lot of fun too. Not as much as the Coupé, but certainly not bad at all. Did you ever drove one of those? It has also the raw feel of the good 'ol Italian automobiles from the past! smile

No Rico, never have. I'd love a go in a 3.0 GTV though. I like the look of these cars and with a decent exhaust they sound tremendous smile
