Having recently purchased a set of B& C cams (cheers Trevor) and will have those fitted in the near future. At the moment I am running a drilled air box with K & N panel filter and a red I chip (Italian programming apparently). A powerflow being fitted on Saturday. Suspension and brake wise have 3G rears and a strut brace. Was wondering what other mods I need to get the best out of the cams. Just to point out I have the mechanical aptitude of a barberry ape on speed and the dexterity of an elephant on Port. So they would need to be fitted by a good garage/tuning shop.
1st thing I'd look at is getting the suspension checked out, and any parts replacing that look like they might.
Engine wise, I haven't heard this chip mentioned before, so without any info about it, I'd look to replace it with a GTECH chip (from GrahamL), and run alongside a PRV and boost gauge. Do a search for GTECH and PRV and you'll find loads of useful info. The 3 together should be under £100 and will be noticably different
I wouldn't be putting the cams in for a while mate. You need to get rid of that chip, I've never heard of it either. Ofcourse then you need a boost controller to be able to control the chip. Then you need to start thinking about cooling with a ProAlloy FMIC being the best option. Then maybe I'd fit the Cams.
With them items gathered up: Gtec £35 Boost controller £30 PRV - £150+ for an electronic Pro Alloy FMIC £410 through a group buy
Then go to a specialist and get him to fit these and the Cams at the same time .
I'd get an FMIC (pro alloy best IMO) and a hybrid turbo.
You'll need something to control the boost and a guage to set it properly. Either a PRV or electronic controller.
I would also think seriously about getting the car mapped properly i.e. unichip.
Your at the stage where things start getting expensive if you want more power. Personally I'd have gone for the above mods + then thought about getting CAMS when I needed a cambelt change anyway.
