I believe it's a clamp fit....when I replaced mine I cut a thread on the shaft and screwed on the replacement.

What have you done to the ashtray!!

I have seen your thread. bowtie
I have been revamping my interior and thought about buying a new one like yourself.
I have removed the original a couple of years ago like so click to enlarge and replaced it with this click to enlarge which I made for the Coupe long before I owned one. click to enlarge
I put the original knob back on the other day for a try out as I had gone from the sprayed matching central console and ash tray etc back to a by the use of plasticote black satin look.
Back to the knob. I went to pull it off and the outer came off. Hence the pics. It was easy to put back after I gave it a going over. Just thought that it might be of interest to see the makeup/internals.

The ashtray I replicated and have a lighter socket/micro usb and widget. It is (the fascia) attached by rare earth magnets to a strip of steel to make it easy to detach when needed.

They actually suit the design of the car don't they! Super comfy too, I've sat in one of those as a passenger

They are Alfa 147 gta seats. No sunroof. No they didn't bolt straight in. They are on Coupe runners. I'm short, so no problems for me. They sit pretty much standard height. I think I took measurements on the fitting thread.
I meant to say plastidip. And not plasticote in my other reply.
