Hello Everyone,
I'm a new Fiat Coupe owner. Just bought a 20v VIS a couple of days ago in the hopes of restoring it. The engine appears to be in good condition although the car came with next to zero history. I am wondering if anybody knows the car and/or anything about its history...
Thanks in advance

I bought this one from Lowestoft, I think it has been through the wars somehwhat and came with not much of anything other than half of a v5... but, not to worry. I love a challenge. I'm excited actually.

Did you have all 3 keys when you sold it on? I only have a blue one now...
Thermostat was actually my first port of call. I'm going to order one in the morning and fit it asap. Im going to do the cambelt too for my own peace of mind.
Thanks for the warm welcome.

Thanks for this information. I had actually come across it and intend to go through it all with a fine tooth comb and see what's actually been done and what hasn't... It's going to be a long journey with this car. But i'm no stranger to spanners and hard work.

To be honest, this is the first forum i've ever been a part of so i'm unsure of certain etiquette... I've replied to you all via your respective reply buttons, is this correct? Or am I supposed to reply here...
Sorry if i've messed up the thread in any way.

Sorry if I've messed up the thread in any way. If you click quick quote on the bottom bar to the right it'll bring up that persons post in your reply box so you can answer them directly. Sound like you have a real project on your hands with this one. Can you confirm the registration you've listed in the header is correct as W64 NLD is a local car to me in Energy green, unless Rob the owner has sold it of course.

Robs is W6 2NLD not W64NLD. It is going to be for sale again though as he's moving house and doesn't have the space for it (I did have to check my old photo's to confirm the reg mind)

This car is Scots Green. There is a sunroof which works (I'm told this is rare) I have been trying to track down previous owners without being too much of a stalker in order get any old paperwork and of course to try and locate the other two keys..

Is there any magical secret way that you can find out the history of a particular engine if it came from a different car? maybe match an engine number with a car that was broken for parts and then search the mot history or cars service history or something?

As far as I'm aware the only place you'll find the Chassis and Engine no's recorded against each other is on the V5, but this is no guarantee as you can submit a form to the DVLA to update the engine no. My suggestion would be to possibly phone the OE manufacturer and see if they have any permanent system records that cross the Engine and Chassis number from first registration.

If you know the chassis number then you can use ePer to give you the original engine number

What I meant was... If I look at the engine number in my car (I'm pretty certain it's not the original engine) Would there be a way to match this with the vin of a car that perhaps was broken some time ago and from there potentially find out some service history etc?
I know, I'm probably being anal, but I have this itch..

Yes I thought that's what you meant, but ePer will only show original engine numbers, unless you can reverse-engineer the database behind ePer you'd have to go though chassis numbers one at a time until you found the engine number you have now, but that will only give you the chassis number the engine was first installed into, not the registration number. But good luck in your quest...
