Hi all, I'm looking for a replacement exhaust for my standard 20VT. Fed up of replacing the mild steel sh!te already. I don't necessarily want any more power, and definitely do not want loads of noise (a little would be good) and wondered if anyone would recommend the Cybox ones as they are relatively cheap and easy to get hold of. I'm located in Leicester and was planning a trip to Motormech for one of there's but am told they no longer offer exhausts Looking for a 'close to standard' look as possible/practical too. Any suggestions or feedback on the Cybox would be great! Thanks, Andy

I've searched a few posts and knew a few guys had them here. It's good to know you had the same 'requirements' as me and can recommend so thanks for that! I might youtube some more vids of them before going for it tonight... (very hard to gauge noise on youtube vids mind you)

I'm on my 2nd cybox exhaust.
It has a nice warble on idle and a pretty load roar on acceleration. I do have a sports cat and airbox modification though making it louder.
Fully recommended.

Taking the plunge, hoping it's not too noisy (for me)! Thanks for the feedback

OK, it's arrived, took a while I must say. I've noticed, before fitting, that the backbox rattles when you shake it. Not too offensive, bit a bit like spray paint. Sound like a loose baffle? Hmmm I've contacted cybox to see what they think. Shame as im very keen to get it fitted.

Going to give it a go:
Response from seller:
The back box is a straight through absorption design there are no baffles. It may have some weld spatter inside but that would go when the e glass packing expands in the silencer box

I'm probably a bit impatient, but have you fitted it yet??

It is a straighter design than the original unit and does not use the mount closest to the passenger door.

To be honest I had issues getting my old one off on my driveway, which is odd because I managed to get the one before it off OK.... I didn't want to resort to a grinder so handed it over to a tyre exhaust fitter for £38. Looked very user friendly to fit as it firstly is in 2 pieces and secondly has a rotatable rear mount (which can be a pain otherwise). I intend to upload a video for your benefit but my provisional feedback on sound is that is really good, meaty(5 pot over 2.5k). It is a little boomy just before 2k. Idle is OK. Ive been using it for work this week and the drone is slightly more than I'd like but I suppose if you take that away with another silencer you lose the rest of the noise too? I'll upload a pic soon too, looks awesome

I have a Cybox for my 16vt and I am very pleased with the sound. It's a bit louder than stock but not by much and only when idling. Their description on ebay is accurate. I cannot say about the mounting because I did not do it myself, but the friend who put it on the car, had no issues.

I think the performance gain is really impressive It really does breath so much better and sounds great at idle but bloody hell its loud
I'm thinking of buying a universal stainless box and grafting it in ( I did speak to Cybox and they said they would make me one but I would need to take the car to them but it's bloody miles from here )

I spoke to Cybox today in relation to getting one for my 20v na and they are saying they don't reccommend it anymore as below
'To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't advise it unless it was a track day car only. For normal road use, it would drive you (and your neighbours) insane.'
Has anyone got any advice or recommendations for a stainless system that would be in the quiet to mid sports range regarding noise for a 20v na?

I have the Cybox cat back system fitted to my 20VT now and wouldn't say it is particularly loud. Slightly louder and boomier than the standard one but not at all offensive. In track day terms it is very quiet and I doubt your neighbours would notice the difference from standard. Thanks Andy- Cybox themselves have confused me a little as the reviews on this thread are all positive. They say it's fine with the 20vt but just not suited to the na'. I was just about to buy one but thought I would ask the question via their FB page first. In view of that was thinking toyosport or perhaps getting one custom made.
