I am going to refurb my alloys myself because the laquer has flaked off on a couple of wheels & dont look the best.

They have been powder coated in past a kinda dark anthracite and under the laquer it is matt so my query is ...what's the easiest way to remove rest of laquer & because there will be a key for new paint underneath to key to woulk matt black spray be fine to use with 2/3 coats of laquer over top to give it the shine as that seems to be what is on them now ??

Any tips or tricks appreciated on this as its my first time doing wheels & want them to come out good.

Not sure what your funds are like but personally I would get it done professionally for circa £220 it is far less hassle with a better finish too.

You can do a reasonable job yourself. If you pm me your email, I'll tell you all i know. I've just done a re-face rather than a full on refurb.

Depends if you can be bothered with the time and effort.

A re-face costs around £40 a wheel. Full works costs as above.

I would get it done professionally. As your in Manchester, I used a firm in Prescot I think called Pro Wheel or Pro Clean on my former ALFA 147 GTA, they did a full garnet blast on all wheels, and painted the colour you want and lacquered for £200.00 for 4 wheels. The GTA wheels where the horseshoe type, must of been a pain to do, but did an excellent job. Coupe wheels would be a doddle.

Thanks guys for inputon this,
I have had coupe wheels refurbed in the past but reason for this post in 1st place is because i want to refurb them myself for the satisfaction of doing them not because i dont want to pay.

I have seen posts where people have done their own & they look just as good so its more of a project than the need to get them powder coated by a pro
