Hi mates, I'm after uprated alloy radiator for my 16VT Coupe. I can't find any company that offers uprated radiators for 16VT on the shelf. So my options are to modify Audi S3/TT or 20VT radiators. There is a large selection of S3 uprated radiators but installing such one requires some modifications to the engine bay that I prefer to avoid. So I think that installing 20VT radiator would be my best option. But the next problem arises, I can't find any uprated 20VT radiators in stock. As far as I could find Direnza offers 20VT uprated radiators, but they are out of stock in all online shops.... In the forum I saw that some of you have uprated radiators from Pro Alloy/Pace. In their web sites I didn't find out if they offer Coupe radiators, so I sent them email inquiries. Do you know any other manufacturer that has 20VT uprated radiators in stock? Thanks.

what sort of power are you running? because so far alot of us with Modded coupes dont run an uprated rad because its not needed. a new 20vt rad and some slim uprated fans have done the job fine even sitting in traffic on a summers day or kicking it hard on the track.

I moved over to a RADTEC uprated rad which ive had for a while but this was only because my VIS (one of the daily drives) needed a replacement rad so i finially swapped them over so i didnt have to buy a new one.

At the moment the car is still with the stock turbo and I'm running ~300hp, but by the end of the year I'll upgrade my turbo and it is expected to reach 500hp. I'm worried about the cooling of the engine when the outside temperature reaches 30+C. Even at that power, when kicking it hard in the hot summer days it reaches 90+C quite easy. Yesterday I found that my radiator has started to leak so it's a good moment to upgrade it with something better.

Whatever radiator you put in. Installing a switch to operate the fans when you want to is a good idea.

I track my coupe in 30 temp and I Allways try to give it a small run when I leave the track. Then when back at parking I stop it for a couple of minutes then start it again for a very short while.
I have found that it stops over expansion and you don't get a puddle of boiling water on the Tarmac.

Yes, the manual switch about the fans is a good idea, but I was thinking about some adjustable fan controller rather than a manual switch. After a week spent in searching for uprated aluminium radiator, I still have no options. The Pro Alloy don't produce 20VT radiators any more, I still have no answer form Pace/RADTEC. The Direnza radiator is out of stock everywhere. Its dealers can make a special order, but the delivery time is unknown, it may take a week or several months....Last weekend I took some measures of the engine bay in regard to fitting a S3 radiator. It would fit, but I don't like the modifications that are needed for it to be installed. In Bulgaria there aren't any Coupe radiators in stock. If you don't have some other ideas about uprated ones, I'll purchase a Valeo from Italy.

in all honesty mate just get a new standard rad, slim line fans and make sure the slam pannel is doing its job (making a seel around the rad area so air is forces through it) test.

If its still to hot then move over to Evans waterless coolant which makes a difference aswell unless its past 100c i wouldnt worry to much.

I found 40mm uprated one from 155Q4. I think that it's the same as the Coupe radiator. If I have issues I will try slim line fans. Thanks

When I was in a search of better radiator I've found that racing 3 row radiator for Japan cars are very cheap. Check for ebay and find one that is suitable for you by size and ports. You could easily pass with 200-250 euros for more than adequate radiator.

Never, never remove the thermostat. Unless you go with el pump, pulsating by controller (but this is also very tricky area for daily driven car)

Also, you could try to make a fan shroud. Original fans should have enough flow to cool down the radiator. Even better with shroud. Don't want to be rude, but why should slim fans improve cooling? There is a lot of slim fans on the market that are weaker by flow in compare to original radiators. Been there, done that

Im only talking about slim line fans which are from a motorsport back ground unlike the ebay cheap fans which obviously you have tried already. buy cheap buy twice.

Im talking Spal or Kenlowe which are used all over motorsport.

why do not remove thermostat?of course after you have to drive
carefully the car, but as you know you can't have everything

Actually I've tried with Spal. Don't know the model of fan, friend use it on race car with no problems. But I've found out that original fans cool down much quicker (car standing in place). Edit: Kenlowe are serious fans. underrated (by specs) and much more serious than Spal. In fact, Kenlowe are the best fans for normal price on the market.

Pippo, because when you are driving, the radiator will cool down the coolant below "working temp". In that case, the ECU will overfuel, dry out cylinders, bearings will be gone much sooner....
