Since getting my Coupé back after driving the FCPerformance Clio Sport for two weeks, it’s more apparent than ever just how bad the standard seats are, especially in leather… I’ve been telling myself I’d get a high quality set of leather in grey for years but it realistically isn’t going to happen. I’m now in the market for some cheap, grippy cloth seats so I can actually start to feel what the car is doing instead of just bouncing around inside around the twisties…

I’m not interested in sodding around with having fitting kits fabricated and I want them to be brand new. As I see it, that leaves me with Carrelli or some variety of OMP, of which I like only one type.

Carrelli cloth seats come in at just under £400 (with mounts)
OMP Design 2 come in at just under £500 (with mounts)

Realistically, will there be a great deal of difference in terms of how they hold you in place? I’m thinking the OMP will be better because they’re recognised producer of sports seats whereas the Carrelli… aren’t.

Another thing, does anyone know of somewhere in the Essex area where I might actually be able to try out a seat? I can’t get over how many shops there are in the mid-west that sell sports seats yet the home of the boy-racer doesn’t seem to have any!!!

Lastly, any other suggestions for seat brands that have a mounting kit for a Coupé would be nice to hear!!

Cheers all! thumb

Why not get a set of plus front seats or LE seats? they will bolt straight in as well as they hold you really well (Use them in the track car) im not sure what the cost is on a set of plus or LE seats, but its a better option if you dont want to mess about with mounts etc...

Just a idea laugh

Seats are a bit like helmets, we all have different shaped heads and finding a nice tight fitting yet comfortable helmet involves trying several on. It's the same with seats if you really want one that suits you perfectly.

This is why I sourced a cloth set (later bigger bolster) for my 20VT. More comfortable and hold a little better. The LE/Plus/Late VT6 recaros are a good choice also - as Jake suggests. I always want a seat that folds for access to rear too, even if passengers are very rarely in the car..
