Evening all,

I came home today and found that my front door won't open... It is a uPVC door with a multipoint lock. When you turn the handle you can hear the various spindles and catches moving and the lock itself still works, but crucially the bit that you'd have in a more basic lock (that goes in and out with the handle) doesn't move at all.

On the presumption I can cut through that bolt as I think I can get at it enough with something like a grinder, is that actually anyway to replace one of these mechanisms or am I in locksmith or, worse still, new door territory?

Thanks for any light you can shed - for once I'm trying to not bugger on in without having a plan - what with it being my front door and all!

Cheers
Simon

Common problem but a bugger to fix. If you can get the door open the parts are available on ebay. Getting it open is the issue. Have a window that had failed and died through the frame to get a lever on them filed the hole.
