I spend a lot of time on my feet through work, etc., so often have sore feet and suffer from the odd corn and hard skin

When I do have some spare time, I walk the dogs, but also often go walking around country parks, which can sometimes have some rough terrain.

On shorter walks, I tend to just wear my trainers, but recently went to a country park that was really tedious on my feet with it's rocks and stones sticking out of the path. It was a nice area to walk in, but my feet really were sore at the end.

As I have big feet for a female - size 9/9.5 depending, then I thought I'd ask you lot for advice as I would be looking at getting some mens boots/trainers.

They seem to cost around £50 upwards though, which is fine if I could guarantee a good fit and comfort, so was wondering if anyone had tried any cheaper ones that seem to be comfortable.
Hi Tec ones seem to be cheapish on Ebay, but would like peoples opinions.

If I found a brand that was cheap and comfortable, I would consider looking at that brand again for better quality.

Me too, but people seem to like it so the price goes up. Beware the shoe event horizon!

I like HiTec but I don't have one at the moment; I just bought a pair of North Face Gortex boots but they cost me ninety quid (I was restricted in my choice - for paragliding, boots with hooks for the laces instead of holes are a really bad idea, and most boots have hooks.)

Was in the same position a while back HiTec quality seems to have dropped imho lately, thought best spend a bit more got about £45 some northwest inuvik after looking at all the reviews very comfortable straight away and so far the best I have bought worth a look.

Earlier year we went away on a walking trip. As we prepared for our first walk I realised I had left my boot bag with my £100+ Berghaus Explorers behind

I popped into a local outdoor store and picked up a pair of Hi-Tec 50 Peaks Penrith boots which were on clearance for under £20. They felt fine when I tried them on but I really wasn't expecting too much from them. I wore them for several walks that week and they performed well. One of the walks was along the beach and through water. They didn't leak. OK they are not as comfortable or as well made as my Berghaus boots but they are not too bad at all, especially for the price.

I'd be looking at the latest trends with insoles to keep costs low and improve comfort. You can't go wrong with a leather trainers that are relatively cheap these days and a decent set of insoles...

Or even a cheap pair of boots (always in the sales this time of year) with a decent pair of insoles

Spend more on the insoles and simply transfer them to the new shoe when the bargain pair you bought finally succumb to wear

Decathlon have their own brand of shoe. They range from about £20 upwards, I have a pair of these and they are just as good as the salomon shoes that I purchased previously.

I picked up a pair of Puma Silicis Walking shoes for £28 off ebay and they have been brilliant. Have done loads of miles in them - coat of Dubbin' now and again and still waterproof
