Hi, my first post on here so please be gentle!
I've done the unthinkable and bought a coupe VIS without a red key or code card!
My intention is to replace the complete lockset and ECU with second hand parts.
Could any of you knowledgable types on here please advise me whether this can be done, and if so, does anybody know anybody who's breaking a 20v VIS where I could purchase the parts?
I'm told that the ECU is different on the VIS to the earlier 20v cars, and may be similar to the one in the Bravo HGT, or Stilo Abarth. Can anybody confirm this?
Many Thanks in adviance

Dave

Hi,Thanks for the quick reply! Yes the car starts and runs fine. I'm just concerned about only having the one key for it.
I understand that I can get another key cloned, however it's my intention to restore the car so want to have everything right in the long term.
Just wondered if a, it was possible to do a lockset and ECU swap for 2nd hand, and b, how easily I could get hold of these parts 2nd hand.
Cheers

I've been chatting with Dave on Facebook Leighton, car runs, he's after a full key set as he's only got the blue key and no code card.

Hi, Thanks for the reply's. The car starts and drives fine, i'm just concerned about having only one blue key.
I,ve been told that I can get another one cloned off my blue key however, as I'm planning to restore the car, I'd like a more original solution long term.
Just wondered if changing the full lock set and ECU is a viable option, and if so, if anybody knows of a 20V VIS being dismantled where I may find the parts needed.
Cheers
Dave

Hi

You can get the blue key cloned at Timpsons for around 30 quid

There is a member on here based in Scotland that can virgin your ecu so it can accept a new code card hence lock set.

Here is a ebay Link for a lock Set

I would start by asking a fiat dealer or contact the Fiat Security Register for the codes for your red key then get one cut

I've been running my VIS for a Few years with just the two keys.

The blue one and the metal Coupé key.

I've had the battery go flat in the car (first winter I had it) and still never needed the red key yet.

I don't worry about it anymore...

I have a VIS Coupe and I have only ever had the blue key. This has never caused me any problems at all, coupe specialist (Solo Italia) says he red key isn't crucial at all. It does make you a little upset if you temporarily mislay your only key but apart from that, it really doesn't matter.
