Eldest offspring has followed in father's footsteps, even after trying to teach from my mistakes, and sent the wife's skip to a premature dismemberment on the back of a skip lorry yesterday - very ironic.

As my wife is careless and my son appears to not yet have any self preservation instincts, I'm pained to buy a new car but I fancy a Hyundai Tucson 1.6 petrol turbo 4wd.

Anyone here had any real-world experience of these? I have so far only driven a low powered 2wd one, which was very solid, quiet, refined but dog slow. The 177 PS one appears to be pretty good but I can't find one here to test drive.

Bloke at work has a high spec one with the diesel engine with something like 180bhp. He loves it. I've not been in it though. They seem to come with loads of kit and are well put together. Look pretty good too.
