Hi,

Read a lot of posts on this, pulled fuses in engine bay and allowed to rest and other things but everything I have tried doesn't work!

Trouble started after replacing flat battery, new battery fitted, starts fine but now got the solid immobilizer code light on the dash and hazards won't stop!

This happened before and fiddling with the alarm fob on/off did stop it but the fob stopped working a while ago. I am thinking about trying to swop the switch off the other fob board as assume it's broken but not sure how easy that would be. The other fob lights up but that's all.

Tried to locate the alarm box itself to disconnect it but can't see it? All I can see is a white plug above the fuse box, is this anything to do with it. I gather likes of Abacus can reprogram the alarm and fob. Need to look and see if I have the red card, probably not.

Had to ditch the car at my parents. Help needed ASAP please.

Spoke with the gut at Abacus, really decent, good info! Says it will be the Scorpion Alarm fitted to my car, located under plastic cover at driver wheel arch/headlight. Disconnect this and job done!

The code light/immobiliser system isn't connected to the alarm system, they're two separate circuits.

With the code light try an ecu reset unless you're using the red key in which case yes this will bring the code light on continuously.

Alarm is the fob, you'll need that working to disarm the alarm module or pull the plugs.

What is the procedure for the ECU reset? Found a thread on similar, said to pull the two main fuses in the engine bay and leave for 15 mins, didn't work.

There's a quicker way for the reset, disconnect the earth lead off the battery and bridge it across the positive pole with a rag covering the negative pole so there's no chance of you shorting the battery, if the negative lead doesn't reach use a spanner and hold it on there for 30 seconds.
With the keys in your pocket reconnect the earth lead and you're modules have now been reset.

More help needed please! I still can't locate the alarm box, the siren is down behind the front passenger fog lamp. Had both wings off to peek behind, nothing in passenger side, driver side has some components behind it, don't think they are anything to do with it. Inside the cabin, above the fuse box there is a white multi-plug, could this be the connector for it? Also I can see a slim box or plate with lots of wires going into it away up in the corner. Or will it be behind the dashboard? near the stereo or somewhere else? Also tried the ECU reset, still the same.

Same as this thread, guy said it is up above clutch and brake pedal. Certain I couldn't see anything.

Found another similar thread.

The fuse box can hinge down, but I don't think that helps the access much. I just lay on my back on the floor with a torch and looked up. In my case I saw 2 connectors, long 10 wire header connectors

Question: I have a 2nd Fob that has never appeared to work, led on fob lights only. can this be reprogrammed?

The code light may be a completely separate issue to the hazards flashing.

What year is the car? Do you know for sure if it's a Scorpion or Meta system or some 3rd party thing? Was the siren marked with a make at all?

The Meta alarm plugged into a light blue connector at right side of fuse box, but not sure if that's present on the earlier cars.

The meta alarm box can be behind a thin sheet of black plastic material above the rear of the fuse box, against the bulkhead, impossible to see if you don't know it's there. Not sure if the Scorpion box was ever located in same spot.

Presumably the engine isn't starting?

The car is a 97 plate. The siren has a number on it only I'm sure, will check again. I'm pretty certain its a Scorpion system from reading info on here on the description (Lots of similar posts!). Someone else has suggested to look in behind the glove box for the alarm, not got round to it yet but will check tomorrow night.


Yes I believe now the code light is a separate issue, not too worried about the code light. The car is not immobilised and starts fine, just the annoying flashing hazards!

If its not there then I'll have to get a pro on to it!

I think they changed to the Meta system in '98 so if you have a '97 coupe it should be a Scorpion system, yes.

Are you starting with the red key? What happens to the code light if you start with another key, eg. the blue key or silver metal one?

Where are you in Glasgow?

Cheers! I don't think the red key is real, I remember trying it when I bought the car and the key symbol didn't illuminate as it should so knocked a bit off the price.

All the keys red/blue/silver start the car the same, hazards start flashing once key is in ignition and key symbol and code light come on.

Found the pesky box eventually!

Removed side panel at the glove box - No joy, not there. Decided to go back to the area above the fuse box as suggested already. I had noticed what might be the alarm box away up in the corner. Couldn't be certain this was it but thought what the heck! Not easy but managed to feel round about it and could tell it was fixed with a screw that I had little chance of removing. Twisted it and broke it free, pulled out all the plugs, key in ignition, fingers crossed and perfect! Even the code light on the dash is out now too. Still have central locking so all good.

See pictures in the link for people in the same situation. Mine is a 97 Plate. This box has no alarm manufacturer markings, just says Fiat 918 U on it.

The 918U is the Scorpion alarm, yes. The alarm box has nothing to do with the immobiliser so strange that removing it helped with the code light issue. Maybe there was a short between the alarm and dash wiring up in there somewhere.

I'm just north of city centre so not all that close, but not exactly that far either.

Old thread revival, I have just experienced the same problem, battery replaced and the red alarm /immobiliser light was flashing.
Pressed the buttons on the meta fob, had no clue what I was doing ! and the red light stopped flashing but was permanently on.
Used my red key and turned on ignition, heard some clicking and after about fifteen seconds the red light went out and all is well.
