They listed it last week to test the water and this time his mate will bid it up for him!
Looks a tidy car so I would have thought it would go over 4k easily.

Even though I am trying not to get another Plus or LE and do other things, I have been tempted by this, but may have decided to pass as it's a bit of an unknown...

The fact that it has been stood for a while puts me off.
I have recently re-commissioned a 20vt that had been in a garage for 5 years and it's all the niggles that need working out when you start using it that take time and money.
Still think it's worth at least 4k barring any bodywork nasties.

This was a CAT C due to a front end shunt, a Coupé owner looking to come back to the fold asked the seller if he could take some pictures showing the cross member behind the side lights to confirm that area is straight/repaired correctly, their reply was "no, you'll have to take my word for it"!

I assume this response is down to the fact he's pissed off about the first Ebay sale failing, or he's simply not too bothered whether the car sells or not as you'd think he'd try and help with any and all enquiries.

I mailed the seller and he sent me some photos, lots of rusty bits under the bonnet (bonnet catch, bolts, screws, jubilees, top mounts….) as its been stood since 2008-9!! (last mot entry before recent mot this Jan). Probably ok but no history and a cat C which has stood for 8 years?? He says its rust free and fully repaired but no VIC which I think you needed up until 2015 to confirm cat c repair!! Fancy a punt but probably a whole heap of minor stuff to sort! Also I think it might be a garage sale? worth saving?

Asked for Service History re belts being done.....none. Seller states he has 3 Coupe's so to 'trust' him. I am steering (geddit) clear.

Given the cat c, lack of service history and the amount of time without an mot I'd still value it at £3.5-4k. After all it's only 71k on the odo and only 4 previous owners. Not too many 70k pluses or LEs out there these days. You could view it as being a massive bargain at that price.

I would like to know the date it was registered as cat c though. The earlier that was the bigger the accident it was in.

Completely agree with this ^^^. If he felt that it had met an acceptable price, he could have used the 'Second Chance' option.

I could be wrong here - but in the original listing, I didn't see any mention of the car being a Cat C. - maybe the winning bidder wasn't too keen when this became apparent?

and that would make me wonder if he was trying to hide it.
